I have just finished watching season 1 of Rome. I didn't watch it when it started on TV (which was good because I think they showed about 3 episodes in like August before taking it off and are only now in the non-ratings period showing it again) but my dad got it on DVD. I enjoyed it; I didn't watch it originally because knowing about roman history, especially that period which is so well documented, that is the sort of show where I knew I would be 'that is so not what happened' and get cranky and not enjoy it. Well I did that a bit, although by about halfway through I was like, 'hang it, I'm enjoying the soap-like drama, who cares about realism' . And it wasn't too bad really, realism-wise. And I don't mind the way they took artistic licence in some things, like changing things so Vorenus and Pullo were always in the thick of it. I liked that those characters allowed them to show the non-aristocratic Roman life as well, since all the major players were the nobility. It was more the things that they changed unnecessarily, like how old Cato was, or the fact that Cassius just turns up in the last few episodes when it would have been more interesting and you'd be more engaged with him if he'd been in with Pompey earlier, which he actually was. Those sorts of things bugged me because it was like, this was a super-interesting time as it really was! It's kind of insulting almost to have them think they have to dramatise it, like gee wouldn't it fit the story better if Cato was an abstemious old dude rather than the heavy-drinking guy in his 40s that he was? No, actually, the way it was in real life is way more interesting and not so cliched. But anyway, I enjoyed it.

And I loved season 1 of Prison Break, it was my favourite show last year. Which is strange because that is totally not my kind of show at all, so much suspense and gore. I had to watch it with my eyes covered some of the time lol. But very compelling. Season 2 is starting here in two weeks which I am looking forward too heaps. I couldn't believe with the way season 1 ended that they will actually still be on the run this season but I guess far more illogical things have happened on the show lol
!!! Same here! I saw one or two of Rome when it started, but didn't watch any more.. THEN, last weekend, I was paging through HBO on demand, and the ENTIRE season was on there. Well.... 2 days later, I was hooked. Really good show, and they show some Roman daily life that most people won't know of. VERY good stuff, and I'm just in time for the second season! Sunday, 9pm!!! ep 2 season 2!

I'm also not one that gets into Prison Break type shows, yet this show's writing was so excellent, it makes up for the silly, unbelievable stuff (as TDC, ya said--like a full upper body tat, that would take YEARS to get, and cost around $30,000) lol.. and the other stuff..

I hope that once the brothers use Kellerman for whatever, they kill his ass--SLOWLY. And that Asian man that is always smiling working for the Pres.. It'll be fun to see him get his too!!

Holy crap, I TOTALLY forgot about Heroes and House! Both are top favorites too! My wife says I act like House sometimes.. He's a smart ass, but funny and knows what he's talking about. He does need to deal with his Vicodin issue--but he *IS* in chronic pain, so he needs them. I don't see why he doesn't simply go to a pain clinic and get his scripts.. I also don't understand that 'stockpile' of pain killers...

Been waiting for Heroes for EVER!!!! I wanna see what happens now... WOW!!

And Sopranos is coming back for the final shows in, what, March or April 8th?
Then we have Stargate SG-1's final episodes *cries* and Stargate Atlantis--the fake Ancients that are really replicators. (I did see the first episode--found it on the net--how is it some other country gets to see it before us? odd.. I think Canada aired it last week?)

And Battlestar Galactica starts back up this Sunday--new time guys 10pm though.. hmmm it is kinda an adult show.

Oh yeah, and LOST! (they need to get back to the original 'feel'. It's getting a bit stale currently, yet still engaging enough to enjoy.

I've been of a fan of 24 since the first season started. But so far this season, its a bit disappointing. Somehow the writers failed to catch the magic with me that they have every year. And the show is becoming ridiculously far-fetched in some respects. Especially with Los Angeles constantly under siege. And it is even more disappointing to see that they keep coming back to the "bad guy gets a nuke".

The first season of 24 was something completely different and not as "save America" intensive, and it worked really well because it was more about the life of Jack Bauer and less about saving the world. Then season 2 hit which the enemy got a nuke, that was intense. Then there was a biological threat and some other stuff.

But in either case, the show is getting becoming a bit too much for me. It'd be great if they could explore other potential forms of terrorism, maybe like a massive cyber attack or something. Or bring the focus of the show back into a smaller perspective like they did originally. That, and they have to stop putting Jack into those "he is going to die" situations. Because we all know at this point he isn't going to, and so it really kills all the suspense.

Glad to get ya excited

Can't remember the name of it right now, which disturbs me, but it's the new series on the scifi channel... GAH! The fact that I can't remember the name is killing me on the inside...

When Prison Break Season 1 was running, I was 3 episodes from the end when I started a night job. AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!! I felt like a junkie waiting for a fix until I got the set for Christmas. Now I'm trying to avoid the ads for season 2 so I won't see spoilers. In the extras on the dvd, they said they've got 5 years of storyline mapped out.

I don't watch the tube much anymore -- working 2 jobs sucks -- so I just wait 'til what I want is on DVD.

Hell yes! Cleo is HOT! Oh..... um, wife is coming... clicks fast....

It's a GREAT show! Love it a lot. And tonight (Monday) WOW! Prison Break, 24 and Heroes. Gotta DVR one.

And let me tell you, FOX has the best HD signal. IMO, 720p is crisper due to it being progressive scan that 1080i. (I don't have one of those newer 1080P models--wow, that would be crazy crisp)

But Fox's Prison Break looks so crisp, and being wide screen etc... DROOL!

I bought the HD projection TV in 2002 with some of the money from the Microsoft payment they gave me for reneging on their purchase of the Ironworks name, but never had a HD signal until late last year--we dropped Dish network for local cable cuz it was cheaper, and had the HD signals.. WOW!

Finally getting use out of it.

But 24 is starting off okay.. I just don't see terrorists going after LA every year. Sorry. They would hit NY or Washington DC. And Suitcase nukes were attempted, but weighed 400+ lbs because of the lead encasing, they were unpractical. Hollywood....

My favorite show currently is Prison Break. BAD ASS writing. I blew off season 1 completely, but watched season 2. I got season 1 DVD set for Christmas, and WOW... amazing, intelligent plot line. REALLY good. Rare these days.

Anyone here watching any of these? Forum seems dead, maybe merge it with Gen Con...?
Where's Rome showing? What channel?
