Really? I've seen 'Naked Lunch', and thought it was a great mind f**k, if completely and utterly confusing (I was in a somewhat befuddled state when I watched it anyway ). Fear and Loathing was pretty terrific as well, another fine example of Johnny Depp's acting range if you ask me. But I think giving Harvard Man a watch is pretty much mandatory if you say it's better than these two.

Well, you have to understand my opinion on those two -- I felt neither told very much of a story. Naked Lunch was interesting, but got to the WTF? stage as it dragged on -- it was certainly a roach-powder induced miasma of junk.

While Depp of course had to show good acting skill in "Fear and Loathing," the movie didn't make much of a point at the end and was just such a crappy decent into trippiness that it annoyed the heck out of me. It was just one bad, worsening, grotesque debauched movie, and I saw no point.

Requiem was the same thing basically, with more intereseting characters and plot -- only it had a point: the ills of drug abuse. The mother wigging out in the apartment was my favorite bit.

Harvard Man has one of these decents into maddness in the middle of an otherwise interesting movie. The horrible trip is just part of a larger picture, a bit of which is densely philosophical. Trust me. Rent it. It's not even a new release anymore, so you'll get it cheaper. If you get DVD, go back through the director's commentary at the "trip" scenes -- because it's pseudo-autobiographical.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is an authentic story, there might not be much of a point in the story, since it is an reflection of reality, apart from the horrifying look into the drugged up mind of a journalist.
By the way, the article "depp" writes trough the movie wins an pulitzer award... Ehh... you know what i mean???

Requiem is a true horro movie... Neither The Ring nor Blair Witch, or anything in that genre gives me the creeps... But Requiem haunted my dreams for weeks...
