I wonder if it's the patches at Bioware. Yesterday I installed BG 2 on the same machine and when I d/l the patch for it I found that it was corrupted. I tried again and got the same thing. So I took the patch off my older Computer and tried it. It worked just fine. I'm going to try the same thing with the patch for BG 1, and see if that works.

Thinking about it, I've heard people having trouble getting the patches from bioware's site to work. If it does not work from your old computer, then try getting it from Fileplanet, or Fileshack, I know for a fact that both sites have working patches.
