alright I tried help someone on two BG forums with this problem and both say Now the game refuses to play... maybe you read the post wrong? I said what my friend was doing was getting the wrong version of the patch and that's why it wouldn't work... Just be sure you are getting the right one.

Well, could always uninstall completely, clear all directories/folders of all things BG and reinstall from scratch.

Ohhhhhh!!!! random thought, do you have the 6 disc old version? Or the newer 3 disc collection? Cuz if you have the new one, patching it will screw up your game

it came with my gateway pc my parents bought back in '97. it's on a DVD (obviously). If you want, when my XP pc gets fixed I can scan the disc for you to see how different it is from the others.

It does say on it
Bundled Software

Seperate sale is a violation of copyright laws.

I would have to say that it follows the same patching rules of the 3 disc version. Don't patch it and it should run fine. Usually when they release a game with a software bundle via PC companies, it's fully patched up to date. So, do a clean install and DO NOT patch it. If you are unsure double check the version # against the patch. fixpacks and mods should work as normal though.

well, i dunno what khazadman's issue is exactly, but I don't really have an issue, mine comes patched, I found that out about a week ago. I had been patching it anyway up to then not knowing on various pc's of mine, but it never did anything to it. My only issue is with the people on Gamespy Arcade... they don't patch their games and are the only people i can find that are even half interested in playing, but that isn't a game issue in itself...

I don't much like posting twice in a row, but perhaps I do have an issue now, not that applying the patch doesn't work but... It seems my clean install of Baldur's Gate is actually version 1.1.4320 Is the patched version not 1.1.4315?? Something is odd there. You would think if they bothered to make a patch for the DVD Edition, they would release it for all. Maybe I've got something wrong, but as far as my version, I am reading those numbers right. I went to save a game and looked on the bottom left and saw something odd there. I did a doubletake like 3 times, lol. I think I'll search into this, but if anyone manages to find anything about this, please let me know.

EDIT: I searched on google and got nothing but people questioning xp caps and giving their game version as if it would help solve their non-existant problem. I'll try to keep searching later, but for now... I dunno, gonna finish the second doom novel... maybe read through the third too, i dunno. Anyway, until tomorrow, i'm off.

It may be that by condensing the entire game into one disc, there was enough alterations made to constitute a new version #.
