From the reports i've heard from various sources...It's almost as good as the book , and it portrays the characters as most people would see them. There are some bad spots where they messed up the chronological order of events , but im sure thats nothin compared to how bad they f***ed up movies in the past.

Hope that helped

It's quite possibly the BEST movie I have ever seen. It's about 90% accurate with the book.

They didn't make any serious changes.....they just skipped a lot of stuff (like Tom Bombadil and the hobbits journey to Bag End) out of necessity.

The movie is still 3 hours long after leaving all that out.

But the casting is phenomenal. The only choice I've heard criticized is Hugh Weaving (main agent from Matrix) as Elrond. That kinda bothered me too, but it's easy to get past it.

Other than that.....EVERYBODY looked exactly like they should have.

If taken as a work of cinema art, then don't miss it. The amount of detail is superb.

As a true telling of the book, it does have its flaws, but none that are all that bad. ( Certainly nothing like what happened to "The Avengers" movie )

I agree about the casting, with one exception, Frodo. He looks like a doll with huge staring eyes.

Go and see it, but don't bother wasting your money on the merchandising !!

Yes, it is an extremely good movie, with something for everyone.

The acting, and directing are superb. I can PROMISE to you that this movie will be a classic in years to come--and maybe the other 2 coming out this year, and next (2003).

Then, Matrix II will be out!

Oh, yes, agree with all here, you have to see it. Maybe Frodo's a little effeminate, and maybe Elrond is a little over the top, but, who cares. If you love LOTR, you'll olve it.

Whats with the Elrond bashin? I saw the matrix over a dozen times and I still think Hugh did a good job here. Just try not to think of him as agent one but as Hugh Weaving.
