So I admit, I never really read Lord of the Rings(all three)..
I read the Hobbit, and it was boring as hell till the end, where things picked up. Could never find his politically-correct language easy to read or understand.. Then I saw the Lord of the Rings trailer and suddenly I'm wondering if the trilogy itself is more adult-oriented than the somewhat childish The Hobbit.. Can someone tell me if its real high fantasy or some sort of Fairy Tale? The Hobbit didnt get to all the death and gore till the very end. ------------------ No-Name Face |

If you haven't read the books yet, you should go see the movie first. That way, you'll have an image of the caracters in your mind as they are in the movies, making them easier to visualize and making the movie seem more 'real', as the characters didn't take on a different look once you read the books.
But you really should have read the Lord of the Rings a looong time ago ![]() ------------------ The last arrow of Legolas kindled in the air as it flew, and plunged burning into the heart of a great wolf-chieftain. All the others fled. -J.R.R. Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings ![]() ![]() |

I would start with the "Fellowship of the Ring". Then "The Two Towers" and then "The Return of the King". These are the core books. These books were also written back in the Thirties and fourties, so there really isn't any PC in them.
They started off as bedtime stories for Tolkiens children. Then some of his friends encouraged him to put them down and try to publish. Thank god they talked him into it. ------------------ ![]() The line between good and evil is razor sharp. Be careful of misteps, lest you find yourself spitted upon your own blade. |

Of course read it first! Do not let scenario/director influence you!!! They usually lie, introduce more sex and bombs or make opposite - cut everything.
