Above all remember with Thalantyr, he also buys items. I got rid of alot of magical items that were either redundant or too weak to be of help with him. He also takes jewelry which feldepost doesn't.

Actually it is possible to steal from him, providing you consider pickpocketing real theft.
The downside is you only get one potion. I don't remember what it was either. My evil thief robbed him and sold his potion back to him though just for the thrill of it.
