another newbie henchmen question...

Do you get only one henchman at a time? (single player mode) I read the manual a few times and it is not mentioned.

Just 1. I just started and I would recommend Tomi Undergallows if you are fighter type and not a rogue. He listens well. I told him to only use a ranged weapon and to stay back behind me. So far he has. He does nice damage with the cross bow also. We are cleaning out the prison. If there is a locked container he runs up a unlocks it for me. Pretty handy.

Yes, I love the skills Tomi brings, but you will want to check out the other henchman as well because you will find that you'll need what they can bring to the table if the situation calls for it. And, if you haven't already, occasionally talk to your henchman...

I really love Linu, I think she's hilarious, and Tomi's fun to talk to as well.

Edit- Well, maybe "hilarious" is too strong a word. How about, she's quite amusing. There.

Illumina, did you find Linu "shines" as a henchman? If so, where? I am already a cleric (can Turn Undead eleven times per day) so I really didn't need her spells, et.al., but I took her along to do her quest. I am now in chapter 2 and would like to continue in the same vein but I am trying to find out where she would actually be helpful. I'm not looking to be spoiled, just nudged. Thanks.

If you're a cleric, then... no, not really... It's sort of redundant. However... It's pretty obvious, in Chapter Two, the item she'll want. Pick it up when you find it, and have her join you near the end of the chapter when you're a high level and breeze through the speaking.
Pick up Daelan instead, is my suggestion. Having Find Traps, Tomi is redundant, and you need some muscle anyway.

Edit- I did, however, complete the game with The Two Elven Clerics, me and Linu. Despite being redundant, it is possible to finish the game alone, and she provided good backup. Especially if you need extra healing spells. But I ramble. Don't let my advice discourage you from doing what you'd like to do. And besides, you can play the game more than once. I would even advise you to do it as a different gender, to get both quasi-romances.

when i started the first time i was a palidian and tomi rocked!

the second time i were a wizard and delean was my man. hes abit too noble though to make way class dude that tomi is...lol
