I think you're probably better off by putting your proficiency into the quarterstaff A fighter can be decent as well with a quarterstaff, but for roleplaying reasons alone (you want to be more druid) you should use a quarterstaff IMHO
I can't help you out with the best weapon for a fighter/druid though. Try searching gamebansee.com and look for the best quarterstaff there is EDIT: OK! According to my finds the "Staff of Ascension" is the best staff in the game; try and find if you can! [ 09-19-2003, 04:34 PM: Message edited by: Link ]

Scythe....definitly Scythe.
If you want to spend more feats on two weapon fighting style (two weapon, ambidexterity, improved two weapon) then I'd say scimitar. The forged scimitar in this game (and its forged upgrade latter on in the game) is excellent and the threat range on criticals is also excellent. [ 09-19-2003, 05:00 PM: Message edited by: ScottG ] |

The might sound a bit boring but I would recommend a scimitar and a shield. There are plenty of good shields around, which will help you if you choose to wear light or medium armor, and there are at least one very good scimitar. This style requires no extra feats so you can spend them on Weapon Focus: Scimitar, Weapon Specialization: Scimitar and Improved Critical: Scimitar. The scimitar already have a good chance of a critical hit and with IC: Scimitar it will be even better.

Not boring - it just doesn't seem "right" (except possibly a small shield - but there aren't to many good small shields). I could see it for the Protector shield though (which gives a 5 damage soak). (Large and tower shields really only roleplay with Fighters, Paladins, and Clerics.)
Still though, Druids have excellent defensive magic - what they don't have is good offensive melee capability (it isn't bad, but it isn't good either). In this respect a scythe adds good offensive melee capability without compromising the ability to hit. As an added bonus it gives two types of damage AND it offers the occasional awesome critical (which really puts a smile on your face when it happens). (Not only that there are two outstanding Scythes available in the game.) |
