With dozens, if not hundreds, of custom made mods out there. I was wondering which of those stand above the others, and for what reason.
Personally, I really like the Shadowlords series (that includes Dreamcatcher). Its even better then the OC, IMHO. The way the story progresses and the brilliant scripting elevate these mods to the level of Planescape: Torment (well, almost).

I really liked what's been released fo the Lone Wolf series so far. Good background, interesting personalities, good scripting and a clear emphasis on the storytelling (in fact, you'll not get any experience for killing monsters). Perhaps a bit linear, but other than that my only complaint is that it is too short (and that's more of a compliment). Other plusses are the fact that it is balanced, that you are drawn into the story from the start, and that it has some interesting abilities you don't get in the OC. Finally, you can start (have to start) at level 1, meaning you don't need to spend time creating a suitable character first.
Very nearly the perfect interactive movie

Nordock. I haven't gotten too far into the story, but I've heard it's one of the best. www.nordock.net

http://nwvault.ign.com/Files/modules/ is where I get most of mine

I took a look at Dreamcatcher, but 8.something MB hakpacks make Mr. Dialup really sad

Don't bother with Dreamcatcher unless you played Shadowlords first, Legolas. Its basicly the next chapter of the story

No, but what if I like it
The shadowlords hakpack was smaller, fortunately, so I can take a look and possibly steal some parts of the scripting
