How exactly does the cleric spell memory system work. A sorcerer allows for you to pick from a list of spells each time you level up without the need to learn or memorise. The cleric seems to be slightly different. It seems to me you are given a large number of spells available to the XP levels you have covered, which you can then memorise selected ones from your spell book. Are you actually given all spells for all levels covered or just a large portion of them. I have never used a cleric before so thats why im trying to understand the differences.

Oh and what would be there key attrib for casting, Wisdom or Intelligence eg. do I need 18 Wisdom or Intelligence to cast level 8 spells???

Thanx

These are the primary spellcasting characteristic for the following classes.

CHA: Sorcerors and Bards
INT: Wizards

Right, when clerics gain a new spell level, they instantly know all spells for it. However, just like mages, they must choose the spells they want to memorize before they can be cast.

To cast 8th level spells, your cleric needs Wisdom 18.

Clerics also have the spontaneous casting ability. This ability allows the Cleric to convert their spells into healing spells (if good) or inflict spells (if evil). This allows your Cleric some flexability in chosing which spells to memorize. So, if you have a good aligned Cleric and need to cast a healing spell but did not memorize any or have already used the ones that you had, if you have any spells left, you can convert those spells to the healing spell for that level - i.e. Level 1 - Cure Light Wounds, Level 2 - Cure Moderate Wounds, etc.
