Handy tip fighting Draconis (very slight spoilers)

Needs thief and mage

Before you even meet him prepare yourself. Plant traps (as many as you can (at least 1 time trap idealy 2))

Get a mage that can cast power word silence and can cast it very fast. Go up to just in his line of sight and pause very quickly before he talks to you (may take a few tries)then cast it and hopefully before he has chance to engage speech he will be silenced then hit him with everything you have got.

Not too much though because if he turns into the dragon before the silence wheres off you wont get the xp (61000)

Wait for power word silence to wear off and he will talk to you and then hit him a few times when he has gone hostile hit him as much as you can (i used a true sight from mage, then piece magic, then hit him with ranged weapons)

When he says he will not be defeated he will turn into a dragon (remember the traps) lure him back to the traps which will hit him. The time trap should go off then you can hit him with the theifs ranged weapon (i used bow of gesen with a whirlwind attack) this should finish him off without too much damage to your party.

Thats how i did it anyways

This is my tatic:
I moved in closer to his human form. I fought him he tuned into pesky little dragon. Tashia casted Project Image. The Image casted Time Stop. Then she unleashed her whole spellbook->Feebelminds,CC Bombs,Lower Resistance`s,Greater Malison...
Then it was the end of Time Stop and poor Dragon just fall on the ground.
Oh well. I just love Sorcerer(s). [img]smile.gif[/img]

I've only killed him 3 times so far...each with a different party. My first time, I closed my fighters (Me, Minsc, Jaheira, Sir Anomen) in on him, and just kept hitting at him while using Aerie's and Imoen's spells to take away his spell protections and lower his magic resistance. I just kept fighting and...uh yeah, just kept fighting .
Yeah, pretty boring, I didn't really use tactics my first time through the game .

My last party to go against Draconis was Korgan, Keldorn, Sarevok, Mazzy, Montaron, and my Archer. Each of us had at least 4 Greater Whirlwinds and at least 2 stars in some kickass ranged weapon, and I'm sorry, but there is no creature in the game that can stand against 57 hits per round for 4 rounds, especially when Keldorn's there to Dispel their Protection From Magic Weapons. Oh I am SO trying that sometime. BTW, where'd you get Montaron from, may I ask? A mod, or custom-made?

Custom. I go Multi-player and add in a Montaron (same stats and voice that he had in BG1, 161,000 EXP, no items), but I don't do it until we re-enter the Harper Hold and find his body. Starting proficiencies are Short Sword **, Crossbow **, and Sling **.

I never have problem against him (Abazigal is tougher...the first time I went through ToB, I actually went to Watcher's Keep to level up and then went back to fight him@@)

most recently, against Draconis,

the first thing to do is true seeing, Imoen, Jaheira, and Viconia, all three of them doing this,

Leading by Fallen Deva, summons take care of his human form quite nicely,

when he turns dragon,

Edwin and Imoen are busy lowering his magic resistance, Viconia is busy summoning more Skeleton warriors to distract him, my barbaian figher, Mazzy, and Jaheira charging in...

finally, Imoen got to finish him off with an Abi-Dalzim's Horrid Wilting.

(Imoen finishs off Yaga Shura the same way~~)
