I found the main problem with Draconis was his first chain contingency(?). He would protect from magical weapons then cast Spell immunity: Abjuration so he was immune to breach... What I did after a few tries was just kill his first form with my main character (Cavalier +6 Holy Avenger Boots of Speed) who was immune to ALL of the first guys attacks, Horrid Wilting, his melee... Then as he changed form I ran away and sent a few summons at him to delay him as I waited for the Protection from Magical Weapons to wear off. Once that was done I summoned my planetars... and proceeded to lay some hurt down.

I found Draconis to be way harder than Abazigal, who went down first try.

Killing him in human form isn't that difficult - just dispel magic and lay-on-the-hurt.

Killing him in Dragon form CAN be easy. Use a spell sequencer of Pierce Magic, Lower Resistance, Lower Resistance, - and then wipe the floor w/him.

ok, you guys did hear about spells like Spellstrike, Breach, Lower Resistance, Summon Planetar, Summon Deva, Simulacrum, Abi-Dalzim's Horror Wilting... etc?
or perhaps Chain Contingency or Spell Trigger?
if you did, then what exactly is the problem?
now, you do have a mage in your company, don't you? at least one, preferably two (or three .

personally, I found the most effective means of taking out the main-baddies is to simply overwhelm them with as many creatures as you can get. for this purpose, I found the following items to be very useful - Vhailor's Helm (allows one of your fighters to cast Simulacrum), Iron Horn of Valhalla (equip it to the same fighter that has Vhailor's Helm and you can summon two Berserker Warriors - they are weak, but it's the numbers that count) and Golem Manual (again, equip it to someone that casts Simulacrum - two golems under your control). have all your mages cast Simulacrum, also summon a deva/planetar and any Elementals you can get (Elemental Prince's come to mind .
with such a force under your control, noone can give up a decent fight. for instance, in the FINAL final battle, I had two Iron Golems, two Berserker Warriors, an Earth Elemental Prince, a Planetar, two Keldorns, two Nalias, two Imoens and two of my main characters (dual-class fighter/mage). it lasted about ten seconds... maybe.

now this time around, I haven't gotten to Draconis yet (taken care of Yaga-Shura, now going through Watcher's Keep), but I plan on using some Chain Contingency/Spell Trigger combos... what I've planned out goes like this: Nalia and Imoen both prepare Chain Contingency and Spell Trigger in advance. with some careful management, the dragon should get hit with 3xLower Resistance, 3xAbi-Dalzim's Horrid Wilting and 2x3xMagic Missile (another alternative, somewhat harder to pull of, would be 3xLower Resistance, 3xMagic Missile and 2x3xAbi-Dalzim's Horrid Wilting) before he even realizes what's going on. that's about 300-400 damage (600+ for the second version)... InstaGib
or maybe I'll load the Chain Contingency up with Greater Malison spells and try the Quivering Palm thingie on him

I've got three powerful tanks in my party so they wailed on him with whirlwind after I brought his defences down. The wands of striking from watchers keep were great for this, one mage casts pierce magic then the other casts breach. These work straight away, bringing his defences down, then the fighters get stuck in and keep interrupting him before he can cast magic. Have lots of detection spells memorised so you can attack him before he heals. The humble level 1 spell glitterdust is perfect for this guy. I just got lucky and dealt out lots of damage really quickly before he could hurt me too bad. I also had my mages back a fair bit so if he buffeted all the fighters down, which was hard because they were all spread out, then he couldn't get to the mages straight away. Any spell that affects an area is good to damage him while he's invisible, comet being the best.

This may seem an odd thing to do after all these long tactics but how about,

Timestop.

Shapechange mindflayer.

Hit him once or twice and hes dead.

Or Chain Contingency set to See Enemy: Lower Resist, Lower Resist, Greater Malison and then cast Finger of Death. It may take a couple of Finger of Deaths to make the roll, but when I did it with my Necromancer, he was dead in less than one round...

Make sure the dragon is always on top of your fighter with the lowest AC. Make sure you use whirlwind or greater whirlwind, and be sure to dispel his proctection from magical weapons. Sometimes dragons use haste and this is definitely not a good thing. (30 damage 5 attacks per round.) Breach will get rid of this as well. Have your priests ready to cast heal, when hp gets low. He will fall eventually. (Have some potions of superior healing ready in case the priest gets nailed.)
