Really? I seem to remember being able to drag potions onto people, and accidentaly healing enemies.

Nope. Once you click a potion it's used on it's owner. Perhaps you are getting your games crossed? Though I must admit there aren't any games I'm aware of in which you can use any such potions on enemies.

But yeah, ZFR if you really want to finish this quest at the point in the game your at with the PC you have, pick up an NPC have them heal the critter, then dump them.

Gotta decide which is more important. A purely solo run through the game or the completion of the quest.

Yes, in NWN you can drag potions... I know I've dragged Potions of Heal onto my henchpersons.
