Don't forget to make it glow!

I was pissed that Glamdring didn't glow in the movie.

I thought it was Sting that was supposed to glow.

All first age high-elven blades glow when orcs are near.

Good only.
Usable only by PC, or by others, ie minsc, with reduced benifits, to represnet the whole decendant thing, Bhaal/Elendil could be interchanged here for the purposes of BG2. Yes i know ones pure evil, but there are limitations in trying to fuse an item from a different story into another.

You wouldn't really need to make the weapon "Good only", if you're making it "Rangers only", since within BG2, rangers by definition are only Good aligned.

Okay, you guys need help.

I agree with Dundee's intrepretation of Anduril.

IT DOESN'T GLOW! GET OVER IT. Narsil was a man made weapon, not an elven weapon.

Sting is a dagger. It would be a +2 dagger, and would confer a Thac0 + damage bonus vs. goblins and orcs.

Orcrist is a +3 longsword, and confers a bigger Thac0 and damage bonus.

Glamdring is a +3 bastard sword (it is much bigger than orcrist....Gandalf can use it with one hand because he's so damn tall), and confers the same bonuses as Orcrist.

I'm not going to get into the whole 'angel' thing. But if you wish to think of it that way, that's fine.

Actually, Narsil was of Dwarven make: "Telchar wrought it in the deeps of time." Telchar was always described as living in Norgrod, so Narsil dates from sometime from the latter half of the Ages of Stars, to the end of the First Age of the Sun. How it became an heirloom of Men is, I believe, unrecorded. Looking in my Tolkien Encyclopedia, I see that Telchar also made Angrist, the knife that Beren used to cut the Silmaril from the Iron Crown. So it would appear that Telchar's specialty is creating blades that can pierce strongly-enchanted creations of the Enemy.

Orcrist, Glamdring, and Sting were all forged in Gondolin, and should glow. Narsil/Anduril are never described as glowing.

Narsil/Anduril: Can cut pretty much anything, probable combat bonuses vs. Evil. A weapon made by Dwarves would not be restricted to a class that Dwarves cannot be, so a pure Alignment restriction would be more appropriate. Size capped at Bastard Sword, since a Dwarf swinging what would be a Two-Hander on a Human would just look ridiculous, especially in a cave.

Orcrist: The "Goblin-Cleaver." Substantial combat bonuses vs. Orcs & Half-Orcs. Likely a Long Sword, as Elves favored that size. Glows when around Orcs, although described as glowing around any enemy after being placed on Thorin's tomb.

Glamdring: The "Foe-Hammer." Magically added Blunt damage to each hit, apparently, or perhaps was just as deadly when using the flat of the weapon instead of the blade. Again, likely a Longsword.

Sting: Apparently forged as a specialty weapon when journeying in Ered Gorgoroth. Provided substantial bonuses vs. Spiders and perhaps such things as resistance to such things as Poison and Webs as well. Short sword.

Six, a short sword for elves would be a long sword for hobbits. It was never described as being a hobbit sized longsword...it was described as a hobbit sized short sword.

That would likely make it a dagger.

I seem to recall Gandalf favouring using the flat side of the blade, rather than the blade itself. That would probably make it lean towards the flat side of the blade being as deadly. Dunno how to implement that.

Yeah, I forgot about Telchar...was doing it all off the top of my head. If I had bothered to read my encyclopedia, I would've figured that out too

On a side note: Congrats to Six on becoming a dracolisk

If this was directed at me, I was talking about Glamdring, not Narsil. I apologize if I wasn't clear enough.
