Using Valygar as an archer is a serious waste of potential. Considering the dual wield capabilities he comes with giving him a two handed weapon for anything more than a rare sniper job just doesn’t make sense. Better to have him Dual wielding Celestial Fury and Daystar.

Give Anomen the sling of everard +5,if you have the bonus merchants. Also,I approve of Keldorn as an archer, but you may need the extra meatsheild against Liches.Carsomyr,Death ward, chaotic commands help here. Two people with +5 wepons hacking away at him,he cant imprison or use any death magic,Hes dead in moments.

1. Give Anomen the sling of seeking, it adds his strength bonus to each hit. With a good belt on he'll do nice damage (and even without a belt I think he has 18++ strength).

2. As far as your sorcerer: yes, you can put a sling in his hand, but if you ever use it on anything other than a goblin you are wasting his spellcasting ability. Shame on you.

3. I agree wholeheartedly with IronDragon. Valygar is a much better tank if you equip him with appropriate armor and let him dual wield katanas or perhaps celestial fury plus crom faer in the off hand. There should be no need for him to pick up a bow.

With that arrangement you have:
Valygar - Slicing and dicing everything in sight (CF + CF)
Kaldorn - Destroyer of mages and undead
Anomen - Healer, buffmeister, slinger
Jaheira - Tank #1 (with Ironskins, of course) and disabler (insect plague, etc)
Imoen - A powerful mage and a good enough thief to manage most of the doors/traps in the game
PC Sorc - Death incarnate

Death incarnate = the incarnation/embodiment of death. Another way of saying "a walking death machine". Appropriate for the spawn of Bhaal, really.

Celestial Fury is found in the unmodded game. Look for a guarded compound near some temples in the City. Hint: the people who have the CF won't give it to you if you just ask nicely.

It's putting it a bit mildly to say that they "won't give it to you if you just ask nicely"... Be ready for a very difficult fight. I don't recommend this area for low-level parties, especially if you've never tried out the guarded compound before. However, the rewards are definitely worthwhile.

And about the "death incarnate" thing: once you get your sorcerer to the point that he/she can cast 9th level spells there will be very few battles that he/she cannot handle alone.

Personally I enjoy playing an evil party theres so many decent evil NPC's in the game. Heres the party I would use and that I like personaly.

PC - Assassin (I like poisoning people )
Korgan - Tank
Edwin - Defensive/Offensive Spellcaster
Viconia - Defensive/Offensive Cleric
Jan - Thief (Hes Chaotic Nuteral so IMHO would fit in the party)
