Jan is Chaotic Nuetral, and i myself would take Keldorn, him being one of my favourite NPCs
![]() You should try giving Anomen the Sling of Everard, its what hes using in my current party. If you do take Keldorn id suggest giving him a crossbow, and using him as anti-mage,for his dispel magic, then with proctetion from magic and deathward, bring them down from a range while jaheirah obliterates them in combat.

Beware, mid-game spoilers...
. . . . . . Since you've ditched Jan, you need a thief and a backup mage... consider taking Nalia for the early chapters. Nalia can find/disarm most traps and unlock most doors if you let her drink a potion or two. She's not a bad spellcaster either. You'll be able to do the Keep quest and pick up some nice loot. Then, leave her at the Copper Coronet before you depart for Spellhold and take Imoen in your party once you've rescued her. She will be both a better thief and a better mage, and will become quite powerful in time.

Well I am a big fan of Minsc and Boo. If you are looking for a good caster you could get Arie but she doesn't have any thieving skills. Not that you can't get around it with spells an such.
I just started a new game with Jan, he is a challage I will say that. But I am going to try to keep him. Just in case the turnip markets skyrockets, then we will be filthy rich |

I'd reccomend taking Imoen, she can be pretty sneaky with shadow armour and the gesen shortbow, but if you want the comedy aspect take Jan.
Minsc is just a great character to take, but Keldorn being able to use the big +5 sword is better, but if you hate him like me don't take him unless you have an empty space in your party. Another powerful character is Aerie. She starts out pretty weak, but from middle to the end of the game she is very powerful, with both cleric and mage spells. Good idea on making a PC magic user, I hardly ever use mages, but hiring is a pain as the only decent one is Edwin. That is if you dont install any mods

Last time I checked, Imoen was a pretty good mage as well. Making her wear armor wastes her talents; Bracers of Defence AC 3 are just as good for her, at least if you're using her as an archer/mage.

I find Imone a preety decent supporter Spellcaster, but I certainly don't like a party without a thief. Unless you are "rushing" for Imoen keeping Jan is the way to go, IMHO. Between Keldorn and Mazzy, I'd take keldorn simply 'cuz of a mighty weapon he is able to wield... makes fighting liches very much fun! ~~
