Meh. I never liked Imoen from the moment I met her in BG1. Lemmy was right--she IS a whiny purple beast. I would've let her rot, personally, and gone after the bastard who tortured me.

And the PC is forced into the spotlight by game design. If it were PnP, it would be just as easy to hide away, or leave Amn altogether. But since you can't do that in this game, you're left with choosing the options the game provides.

And as for defending against attack, I wonder what a Priest of Ilmater would do.

Defend himself. Ilmatarians do not harm unless they are made to do so. That could mean, threatening the innocent or threatening themselves.

Not according to IWD. They rather stand and die then raise a hand against anyone.

Wow...that flies right into the face of everything printed about them. The idea is that they try peaceful means unless it is absolutely necessary. In fact, in the more recent Forgotten Realms sourcebook, it makes the point that many regard them as pushovers, but that they have teeth if they need to. It also states that Ilmater is a member of the Triad along with Tyr and Torm (both warlike dieties). Bit of a discrepency (could be that the "redefined" him in the 3rd edition).

Most Priests of Ilmater are Monks. They take vows of poverty and shun the use of weapons. Try to push one of them over and see what happens when you get Quivering Palmed.

My memory might be effected by gross amounts of pain medication.

In tribute to bad Kung Fu movies and Ilmater, and the mind altering substances, I present... (Begin bad lip synch)

"You killed Quan Imoen! You have insulted my honour! Prepare to face the Weeping Fist of Dispair! The Slap of One Thousand Turned Cheeks! The Beggar's Furious Foot of Famine! Hi-ya! You die now!"
