My old monitor, had it for 10 years, died yesterday after a power outage in my neighborhood. Was working just fine, then the power went out. When they fixed the problem, my monitor wouldn't power up.
So I took the VGA cable from my monitor and connected it to my TV. Worked like a dream. No audio though. So I had to run out and pick up a 6ft 3.5mm audio cable. And while I was at it, I picked up a moderately priced wireless keyboard and mouse. Now I'm using my TV as a monitor and speakers. And there's just a few final concerns. It's a widescreen. Do I need to track down widescreen patches for all my older games? For instance, I have BGtutu installed, up to ToB, with the G3 fix and tweak packs insalled. I think one of them has widescreen support options. But which one? I know Torment has a widescreen patch, and I have that one, but what about Morrowind, Starcraft and the Warcrafts? If I can't find widescreen patches will the game simple stretch to fill the screen, or will I have a letter box effect?

Try Googling.
If you can find forums for the non-Infinity Explorer games, you may get some answers. One place to start might be here: Boards o' Magick |

BG22 definitely has a widescreen mod, G3 has it I think. The other 3 games mentioned you will need to fire them up and see.
How big is your TV? Widescreen mods aren't "upscalers", so the game will pixel out on one of those large HDTVs.

I actually tried one of the games last night and the TV just switched resolutions with the computer, ended up with an enlarged 800x600 resolution. letterboxed on the sides. Since I'm sitting about 6-7 feet back from the screen, any increase in pixelation wasn't too noticeable.
