Yes I have wasn't he the guy who wrote the "Otherland Series". I'm surprised that no one has Read "Dune" by Frank Herbert. But truthfully I prefer Ice Station by Matthew Riely (Really good Australian author)

Anyone interested in a fast pased book with no stopping, that continues to esculate even untill the end you should read "Ice Station" very easy to read. 2 days at most.

No! Not childish. Deep, deep characters. Just because you didn't see it doesn't mean it's not there. This is epic poetry, man, it's not meant as a novel that is easy to assimilate. Different media completely. Takes some getting used to, but worth the effort. Characters not childish, no way.
