And maybe that is for the best... after all, Drizzt is hardly your every day Drow. I think he has more in common with the next Paladin of the Radiant Heart then with most Dark Elves

I have never read the Drizzt books, and everyone makes him out to be a nasty/ bad/ stupid guy. But when he is on Baldur's Gate, he's cool. So I think that it'd be good to make a movie of the Drizzt books, it'd be better'n good, and his cat (panther) is cool, and I think it talks too, which is more than I can say for Pixie, who is a large, fat cat of mine, and who has a limited vocab.

The first Drizzt books aren't that bad, but after awhile its just more of the same.

I like Drizzt books. Perhaps that's so because I haven't read anything else. Perhaps it is so because these books were the first I've read. They say Greenwood is better, and I shall check it once.
The film would be crap. Come on, when did anyone make a good movie based on an already existing material? D&D-crap; Street Fighter-crap; Sense and Sensibility - crap. Even LoTR is crap. Sure, there are all those effects and smashing battles, but it doesn't follow the story as it should, and all those halflings look like sissies. I don't know about Final Fantasy and Tomb Raider, are they any good?
The film is bound to be weak, and it would only make Drizzt even less popular.

How abotu a movie about when the elves split off into the elves and drow. I hear there was lots of bloodshed then and we would still have Elminister... i think.

All dungeon and Dragons movies are Doomed to fail because they are too "specialised". There is too much races, classes and magic... You need to have played some D&D to understand it.

Average people would not like it.

It defently depends on who plays Drizzt. For instance you cant have Sir Sean Conery or George Clooney play him I would say more of a Chris Rock should play him and one of his lines could be, "Why the Hell do the drow live under ground is it because were black!"

At the end of Shanghai Knights, there is a cool scene with the main bad guy using two swords to fight. I found myself thinking that that's what Drizzt would look like on screen and found myself thinking it might be cool.
I don't think a movie would work, but there is, of course, the TV series that is supposedly in production based on the Forgotten Realms. I have not read any official statements about it, but I've been hearing rumours for a while now.
