It looks like LOTR is leading Stars Wars by just a little
![]() They are almost identical in the respect that they both fight for justice (but what heroes don't?), but honestly I don't like the fact that you ABSOLUTELY CANNOT shoot a Jedi with a laser, but you can stab him?!? WTF? But, using the force would be neat. Maybe you shoulda been more specific, and choose either the first Star Wars trilogy or the new one. I love the old star wars, but as a whole, the new ones are ruining the series. [ 01-17-2003, 04:38 PM: Message edited by: The Cavalier ] |

Cavalier, see my post above - SW movies have an incredible plot. BTW, Paladins don't exist in Middle Earth. Also, you can shoot a jedi with a laser, just not a good one.

I think Star Wars is better, not because of the technology involved (judge this on the era it was developed) but because of the impact on society each film had.
LOTR didn't even come close to having the impact the original SW did - did LOTR stay in the box office for years at a time? NO - but Star Wars did! If you prorate the box office rate of the old SW films, and compare them to todays I think you'll find that Star Wars far outgrosses current releases in total number of viewers.

Such a difficult question!
Even though I voted for Star Wars, I like them both. Too hard to decide |

Matrix had some real nice stuff, but lets face it - it's not a revolution, but an evolution. LotR blows it away in most respects.
Matrix just used brute force to achieve an effect most producers would simply use CGI for today. Having said that...eagerly looking forward to Matrix II...

I waited 30 years for the LOTR's movies & so far they have performed well. I have heard a rumour however that "the scouring of the shire" is not included. I hope that that is not true as that chapter rounds out the development of the hobbits.

Ok Im a big Star Wars fan and Ive seen all the movies a hundred times over and over... BUT, Lord of the rings was the first movie that made me run into the nearest shop and buy a book!!! I never read books...well that was until I saw the first movie. Now ive read almost all the books there is that is related to Tolkien and my vote goes to Lord of the rings!
Cant wait for the last movie...
