Got no problems with the book. I always found that all players came to the table with some core ideas of how to work the rules. Everyone min/max's to some degree. I saw it as my job to convince them that "the play's the thing" -- and I think I can always do that.

If anything it'll be a useful guide in ironing out the flaws of 3.5 for future editions. And of course, there's good money in updating to a new ruleset when you're the one selling the many books.

If anyone has bought the Epic Level Handbook for 3rd edition D&D, they would know this Powergamer's book is useless.

That book is third party, you should never even consider adding third party products like that to your campaign...

Of course this one is not adding any rules, but you shouldn't even be reading them...

But I think this is not a big problems. Any good DM can get over that.

For example, I modified the stats of the key monsters like Dragons and the Tarasque in my game because I didn't want players to know them.

We all do that. Can't remember when I last used, or encountered a default orc
But what I really hate is 3rd party rulebooks which actually do add new classes and spells... which are hugely overpowered. And then, the players insist on integrating them into the campaign.

When I DM I inspect each character, and ask them what they were trying to go for. If something seems out the ordinary, I nerf it down to an acceptable level, or smack them around in game to prove that at level 3, 19 strength doesn't make you a God.

I'm pretty pissed off that one time, a DM inspected a human mage I made, considered it too weak, gave it better stats, and I accepted...

The last time I played PnP was a LONG time ago, but I remember being a level 14/17 (I think--it's been a while) Chaotic Neutral fighter/thief who had a hex on him that made him "do" things every now and then that he normally would not do. One day while I was praying to my statue of the DM (I worshipped him as if he were a god, which is why some minor god hexxed me), the hex kicked in and I began to taunt the DM and defile the statue with excrement.

He turned my body into a pillar of salt and damned my spirit to the Abyss.

You never mess with the DM, no matter what level you are. They will always find a shifty way to kick your butt. That was a dang fun game though.

I was tagged for death from the first time I played. I was a fighter/magic user (1/2)and really was supposed to die in the doppleganger trap. The DM's girlfriend was a lvl 5 rhinemaiden (fighter). Some how, she and I ended up the only two left alive in the trap...and the trap was dopple-gangers. Well, her strong dopple killed her strong self while my weak dopple was so weak, that somehow I killed my dopple.

I got the sword the DM had specialy DM crafted for her. I got all her expected level 5 equipment. I got the XP of (5) player characters, because the other 4 were dead when by killing the dopple, I completed the quest. I popped about 3 levels.

It Gets Worse/Better...

I roll for a familiar. They had (2) 10-sided dice. My first roll- zero.

One of the group says "hey, wouldn't it be funny if he got a psu..." It was all he could get out before Death Stare from DM's squeeze cut him down.

I roll the second time- Zero.

At this point, she begins to actually cry (wail to be acurate) and the DM is settling up with me on one hand and calming her down with the other. The session broke up for the night. The DM didn't get lovin' for 2 full weeks.

The very next session I played, I was back-stabbed by an Assasin and my corpse was ripped to shreds by the claws of a dragon "beyond the ability to raise". One of the party memebrs actually started to say "But what if we..." and the DM smiled a cruel smile and said "Don't go there."
