Ashes of Embers is a collection of features originally intended as
components of the Embers of Empires mod. Due to time constraints EoE
has been put on hold, but the completed features have been released as
a stand-alone package for BGII. It includes:

- Universal weapons for all classes
It doesn't make much sense that a cleric can't use a sword in
combat, and a mage with 17 strength couldn't wield a two-handed
sword.
Strength and Dexterity requirements have been modified for all
weapons.
Two added weapons; Katars and Bolas, using the dagger and sling
proficiencies.
Spears can now be thrown.

- 7 added kits
This includes six of the nine cleric kits for the deities of EoE,
and a fighter kit called the Pit Fighter.
NOTE: Armour restrictions for the clerics have not yet been
implemented.

- Human multi-classes
With this feature you can either dual-class your human character
as normal, or choose to be multi-classed via kit selection.

- Added Armour
Scale Mail, Banded Mail, and Field Plate have all been added.
You will find a merchant who sells them in Waukeen's Promenade,
near the Ore Merchant.

- Two tweaked spells
Both Ironskin and Stoneskin are extremely cheesy and piss me off.
They have been nerfed to have a far shorter duration.

- Wizard Slayer enhancement
Wizard Slayers will now have an 8% base MR, with a +4% Magic
Resistance bonus per level. A level 3 Wizard Slayer would have
16% MR, for example.

You can get it here: http://www.forgottenwars.net/?page=mods/ashes

It's a 603kb download, so it's friendly for those of you without broadband.

You can find the readme here: http://forums.forgottenwars.net/atta...AoE_ReadMe.txt

The forum for AoE is here:

It makes perfect sense to me. Why would a pure mage want to use crude things like metal to manually attack his foe? Instead, cast Black Blade of Disaster (if i remember the name correctly) and have at it.

Atleast BG2 is expandable enough to let you do what you want to, so nice work i'm sure it took some effort. I'll stick to what D&D rules are already implemented though.

Armor, spells, kits, and Wizard Slayer are a good move.

I agree with dulouz. Those things are there with a reason.
-Clerics don't use bladed weapons because it is against their ethos (or do you find those ethos disputable?)
-Mages don't use weapons by their choice or they would be fighters. Or fighter/mages. Or something else.
-Human multiclass? Why? I don't agree with such bending of rules (not that anyone asked me ). Why haven't you enable dualclassing for demi-humans?
Why don't make only one class and only one race?

I agree with what have already been said, but someone should also point out: Great job, Ghreyfain!
It really looks awesome, and even though I/we may not like some of the components, it looks like a mod worth getting. I'll probably give it a try the next time I go through.
Quick question, though. Does this come in WeiDU-format? If not, does it still go with WeiDU-mods?

Exxon: This is in WeiDU format as it is. The install program merely takes the folder, setup.tp2, and other needed stuff (blah, whatever it is), and puts it in the BGII directory. Then it runs WeiDU.

Edit: "Thi sis" at the start... oops
Yeah, if he had Black Blade of Disaster prepared and ready, it makes sense. But as it is, a mage is physically unable to even put a sword in his hand, let alone use it.

As far as Clerics go, it depends on the God, or whether you view 2nd Edition or 3rd Edition versions of the Forgotten Realms as more 'correct'. The favoured weapon for Clerics of Helm in 3rd Edition background is the Bastard Sword, for example (isn't Anomen always saying, 'Point the sword, and I shall strike!' ).

Where did you get the strange idea that flails, maces, hammers and bullets don’t shed blood?

I seem to remember Gandalf running around waving a sword an awful lot in those books (what were they called again?) So Gandalf was a half-even fighter mage?

There is ultimately no correct or incorrect way to RP. The idea is to release your imagination not burden it with excessive rules. Rules are made to be broken. If you don’t wish to use the mod then don’t

+4% Magic Resistance per level!

And here I, SixOfSpades and Alson thought anything higher than +2% MR per level is unbalanced.
