I've heard that theres a MOD or something for BG/TOSC called Dark Side Of The Sword Coast. Can anyone tell me if this is any good? Is it based mainly for evil partys? What does it add to the game? Also if I download it, will I have to restart my BG/TOSC game that I'm currently playing? Or should I finish playing and then download it? Last question is, can anyone provide me with a link so I can download it? Thanks in advance....

Yes it's ok. Has a few minor glitches (at least for me) but all in all not too bad. Odd spelling errors and some quests won't kick in/stall if the plot is not adhered to. If you've played BG1/TotSC once or twice it's worth the d/l. You MUST start a new game for DSotSC to work. Here's the link.

There are some bugs in DS. But if you enjoy spellcasting it will make you very happy. Myself, I prefer the BG1 setting, story, and character development (starting at 0 XP) to BG2, so I was really delighted to get up to level 9 spells that Dark Side gives you. (The bad guys have the new spells too.) I have a number of criticisms other than the bugs but I wouldn't want to spoil you any. Anyway, a very respectable effort. And again, if you enjoy spellcasting it's a treat. For me going back to ToSC without DS would be like playing BG1 without T0SC.

I've just been looking at DSOTSC and wondering whether to download. It sounds good, but my system may not be able to a download a file of this size (20M bytes). Anyone know if the site is working ok, sometimes it's not available? Thanks.

I downloaded it ages ago though a dial-up connection and I think it took over 3 hours, which is'nt too bad. I've finished BG with DSOTSC installed twice but unfortunately I never finished DSOTSC itself. Some triggers for certain quests were never set off for whatever reason, preventing me from completing them.
I still reccommend you DL it though. Some of the new items are great fun to use (if INCREDIBLY overpowered) so you should get to experience a decent amount of DSOTSC even without completing the missions.

Kill the group of bounty hunters south of Gullykin ASAP. The items they leave are incredible. Just make sure you have a Dwarven fighter in your group (Kaigan?)

It appears that the TeamBG and DSOTSC sites have been re-organised, so the download can now be found at the Fileplanet site. I for one am going to try it.

If I play DSOTSC and beat the game, can my character be transfered into BG2?

Yes. Dark Side is another add-on like Tales, albeit an unoffocial one. It just adds stuff onto, or actually into, the same basic game. You will be able to import a considerably higher level character into BG2 if you play Dark Side.

My advice is to play BG/Tales without Drak Side first. Then play it again with Dark Side installed. I would do that because Dark Side gives the game a whole new life.
