I have now played through BG two times, and in a few days, I will be getting TotSC. And not before now have words crossed my ear about an (unofficial) add-in called Dark Side of the Sword Coast. Could anyone tell me a bit more about it? And also, should I get and install it right away, or play through BG: TotSC without it first? Lastly, do you recommend DSotSC?
Thanks.

DSotSC is one of teambgs mods. www.teambg.com , hit the mods link to the right and pray that their forums are up at the moment.

AS for how good it is, I havent played the main part, but the little I saw of it before complete HDD meltdown was pretty good. Seems stable. You have to start the game with DSotSC installed, you cant sart a game and install later. Its not a huge download, although fileplanet queues are never fun.

If you haven't played TotSC yet get that and play that without DSotSC first. Than play BG with DSotSC. It is a decent mod, adds some new areas, new decent NPC's, items equipment, spells and a few new bosses. I found the mod good but in certain areas it was prone to crashing. Worth it though!

Only reason I say play TotSC without DSotSC is it will increase your games replay value.

you must have tales of the sword coast installed in order to install Dark Side of the Sword Coast. then in order to play dark side you must start a new game. Dark side doesn't start until you have finished with the first half of the game and have corrected the contaminated Iron problem and are returning from the flooded cloakwood mines. Just before you walk into the Friendly Arms Inn sleep in the woods. Mhen you wake head just south of the gate and you'll meet a Female Elven Cleric named Jet'Laya that will be joining your party,(so before you meet her strip all the supplies from one of the character's in your party and send them off to wait for you some place if you ever plan on having them rejoin you later in the game)She will tell you a story about her missing sister and wants your help,Take up her quest to find her sister and have Jet join your party. As soon as you do,the Forest of Forgotten Souls Maps should highlight on your world map. Then the intro Program will run for the start of Dark Side of the Sword Coast and you will see and hear a new narrator that will introduce Dark Side of the Sword Coast,as soon as it finishes SAVE YOUR GAME. This is a must, because you are going to meet some powerful Experience and level sucking monsters that can rip your party to pieces so you may want to reload a few times until you get the hang of these stronger monsters and Demons. Then when you start winning quick save after each battle, if you don't it will piss you off when you have to fight the same monsters over and over.
I have played DSotSC and it was really pretty good. The only difference is I went straight north to Ulgoth's Beard and then to Durlags Tower and finished all the quests there before I dumped a player and picked up Jet'Laya's and started Dark Side because I wanted all the extra experience and weapons that could be found there.
Hope this will help you deside to download Dark Side and the 25 to 30 hrs of game play it adds to baldurs gate Have FUN.
