1.I have not seen any member call homosexuals "abominations" in God's eyes.

2.We all have mental health issues. Every human. Perfect mental health is unattainable. I don't think talking about ways to increase mental health is damaging to anyone at all? On the contrary, it can lead to greater health.

If you have a person who wants a certain set of mental pathways in their life, but finds themselves completely unable to achieve it, there is a problem. A disconnect. By stating they have a problem, they are stating mental health deficiencies, as they are not in control of those mental pathways.

Following some advice on a forum, could save plenty of money. The elements about mental control I've spoken of, are tried and tested. Just because the words are free, doesn't mean they should be disregarded.

So.... in short, just a reminder.... You can love someone, but hate an action they do. Like loving a partner that cheats on you. It only hurts because you love the person, and hate the action. See. So simple.

In a society with religious freedom, it should be perfectly acceptable to discuss concepts held dear by the majority of the planet. Namely, Muslims, Christians and Jews. Otherwise we're banning discussing morality - based on your moral choices that discussion of it is an abomination in your eyes. Kind of double standards there.

I have not seen anyone "bash gays" here. If the accusation was levelled at me, I find that suggestion completely laughable... You really don't know me at all, if you honestly believe I have been bashing, or intending to insult those who engage in homosexual relations.
There was no bashing, but mental illness and defectiveness was more than implied in the "Virginia Bans..." thread. But I don't believe you did anything close to that.

Sad

Just my 2 cents..

In my odd forays into posting in this part of the forum, I’ve noticed a side of me that I don’t like. That is the one that tries to discuss Gun control. I have seriously lost the plot in that field of discussion. I have never felt so exasperated or less conciliatory. So i have, a month or so ago, banned myself from posting on the subject.

To those I have offended my apologies. I recognise my inability and shortcomings in my education to handle a debate on gun control.

But on a brighter note I would like to say that I read most posts on this forum on all sorts of subjects and find myself learning from both sides of the argument. I enjoy this forum. Though it would be nice to ban the word Iraq for a month

On topic, yes Chewy I agree with your surprise at some of the posts that have been allowed to pass under the radar. Though I think Mouse answered that with pointing out that more leeway is given in this corner of the forum. To much freeway? I don’t know

If you confuse "Persian" and "Arab" you might want to watch the Iranian guy on that new comedy show Whoopie for a few moments.

Been offline for the weekend, still got my computer in the kitchen while the study was being painted. I'm glad to see that some discussion was had and no blood shed, at least in this thread!

Can't add a lot to what Memnoch,Mouse and others have said and as Z points out, this is his house so trying to set it on fire will get you tossed out on short notice.

I stopped getting to the 'heavily worked up point' over forum posting a long time ago. It eats up tremendous amounts of time and energy and can be incredibly stressful. I come to the internet to relax and get away from the stress of daily life! Took me a year or two, but I finally took the good advice of some friends and decided NOT to let debates on the forum ruin my day and get me so hot and bothered I couldn't think of anything else but 'proving' my point. As Mems so sagely asks all the time...why let the unchanging and most likely unchangeable opinion of another person in a forum cause you so much distress?

We all have friends and family who may disagree with us at one time or another and I doubt we treat them the way some of us treat others on this forum! Or if we do, they aren't in our lives now, that's for sure.

We get alot of people here and that's one of the best things about IW and internet forums! The new and interesting people we meet, refreshingly different viewpoints, ideas and opinions that we can discuss and debate. We need to remember that not everyone will have the same way of looking at things that we do and respect their right to think for themselves, as much as we demand the right to do it for our own selves!

Respect is a two way street and sometimes it's easy to see only the ONE WAY sign we put up for ourselves. Let's try and keep the lanes open in both directions!

Just to answer the original question, I think this forum is coming to about a buck-seventy-five. I had independent auditors do a financial valuation and, well, there it is.

(Hey, don't blame me, they were valuing it at less than $0 before I pointed out Cerek's contributions -- I tried my best.)
You mean 'Babylonia' or 'Mesopotamia'. Banning "Iran" could lead to Persian references.
