[SoU] Locked chest in Drogan's place *spoilers*

In Drogan's room there is a chest needing a key sitting on his table... you can't miss it, it has all those lights shooting from the top... How/where/when do you get the key? Can you get the key? I just found all the artifacts and was expecting the key as a reward, but he never mentioned it. So I just want to make sure it is totally out of the picture before I move on.

Speaking of glowing chests... what was the deal with those two red flare chests in the Kobold (I think) cave? They were in the middle of a narrow hallway about half way through the cave. When I opened them they were both empty.

Also, before I move on, can someone tell me what these things are used for?
-Heart of the Shadow (I got it from that deer I killed)
-Rags and Top (I had them both in the OC, but found no use for them there either)
-A book called "Return of the Beast" (I found it in a cave with a mini-boss. Is it a plot item or just a random story?)
-Food! (I was thinking I could eat it and it'd heal me some, but noooo)
-A book called "The Tale of Rusty McFinger" (Same as the other book, only I don't remember where I found it)
-Green Spores

Also also, are there henchmen quests like in the OC? I haven't come across one yet, but maybe I'm just not talking to them enough...

The Heart of Shadow is for a quest. Some poor chap has an ill wife, and is in need of it. You might have met him even.

No, he only wanted the horns from the deer... at least he only took the horns.

and maybe you'd gain invisability or teleporting or something for a little while. That'd be cool, to be able to teleport around the map.

I think the red kobold chests are for monks only, but I've never actually attempted them with a monk yet.
