Have you encountered any bugs?

Has anyone encountered any bugs during the game? Will the Baldurdash Fixpack fix some of these? Here are a few bugs I have encountered:

1. Sometimes when I check an item's description, the screen will get completely messed up, like everything was smudged. I can still play but you can't see anything clearly with the colors all mashed together. When this happened I would have to completely reboot my PC before the smudging problem would go away (but I am pleased to say that I have not encountered this after installing ToB). The Firkraag quest never goes to my "Done Quests" tab. I've killed him with my Undead Hunter and I even waited to kill him until the final Stronghold quest was given to me (unlike my first attempt with my other pally... what can I say, I like Pally's ). Is there any way to get that quest transferred?

Ellie the Cook (Brynnlaw, Galvena's Bordello) will give you unlimited quest experience. 2250 XP for each party member every time you talk to her after killing Galvena. Is this a bug or is it there intentionally (in case you aren't high enough level to take on Spellhold)?

4. Occasionally crashes to desktop when I enter a building.

These "bug" me but the game is so good I don't mind.

Whoops! Forum newbie! Just edited for Spoilers. Is this how to do it? Should I leave some space below it as well? I did just in case.

BG II SoA is known to be bugged .

I do not know if the Baldurash fixpack will fix these bugs, but it fixes allot so I recommend that you install it and see if you yet again encounter the bugs you have noted out here.

[add] probaly not! , also could you plz put a spoiler tag on your post because... hmmmm the Firkraag spoiler question yes or no is still going on.. just in case.

It's fine know Shadowbane, Firkraag is a rather irrated topic in this forum because nobody ever puts a spoiler tag on there posts if it is about Firkraag,there by spoiling people who did not know about the Firkraag related things. You are rather knew here so you couldn't know about it .

Look at Dundee's Thread for further details about how to put spoiler tags in your posts/threads.

Also do you have all the latest patches for SoA/ToB? if now download them (there are links in Dundee's Thread)

His kid says something about what I just accomplished, but Garren doesn't. He just says (paraphrasing) that he has a lot to think about.

That sounds like the standard thing for the Windspear family to say.... Did you kill Firkraag in a "non-standard" way, like say, before he was able to utter some essential dialogue?

As long as you're getting the full XP for completing the quests, I wouldn't worry *too* much on the journal entry mixups - I already met with Bodhi and my Journal still sez I need to "meet with Valen's Mistress..." Sometimes I just delete them manually if they bother me.

The graphics problems are way more serious, hope you get them resolved.

As for the bugs you can exploit, like Ellie the Cook - if the patches don't fix them, it's a simple matter to just avoid exploiting the bug, i.e. just play "fair".

No, I killed the beastie after talking to him first. He says it's "your funeral" or some such nonsense. He sure ate his own words though. [img]smile.gif[/img]

The journal entries are kind of annoying but they're no big deal. It doesn't affect the game whatsoever, but I just like a tidy questbook. As for Ellie, I didn't exploit the second time around. The first time I levelled up a couple of levels just because it let me do it. [img]redface.gif[/img]

Ellie the Festhall Cook is fixed by Baldurdash; I think that the Windspear family also is.
Game crashing to the desktop would be due to a lack of system resources, mainly RAM. I would recomend that you have *atleast* 256 RAM on the machine BG2 is on, if possible, to minimise this.
As for the blurred screen, post a screenshot if it happens again. [img]smile.gif[/img]
