This is the Waterdale City Info Thread. This has all the info you need to know about Waterdale. It will be updated currently, with all the news. I will also be giving weekly summaries on what has happened, so anyone wishing to join knows exactly where we are in Waterdale. This is also more updated then the info on the actuall Waterdale thread, so DO NOT RELY on the RPing thread.
Waterdale City: Waterdale is a small village located in the Prime Material Plane. More specific, well there is no more specifics. It is a quiet town that lives by a river that flows into a lake to the east. The the North, are mountains, lots of mountains where mystical and ancient ruins lie, where wolves come down at night to feed on the children. To the South and the West, are rolling hills and fields, and forests. Waterdale starts out small, a few buildings here and there and a few people. There are about 7 homes, 1 small Barracks with 5 guards running it, and the Town Hall with the new mayor who wishes to make Waterdale a hustle and bustle commercial trade town. The Mayor (Me/SecretMaster) is apparently looking for the bravest and strongest of men (and women) to come down, people of leadership, courage. People that knows a good deal when they see one. People who can a functional town. Money System The money system works as the follows. Copper, Silver, Gold. 10 copper pieces equals a silver. 10 silver equals a gold. Think of it as the U.S. currency. Copper are pennies, Silver are Dimes, and Gold are dollars. So 100 copper equals 1 gold. So, if I have 4 gold, 6 silver, and 2 copper, that would be equal to $4.62 and so forth. Jobs: Jobs in Waterdale start out as a small selection. But as we grow and new oppurtunities arise, so do jobs. You will get paid weekly in GP, you will not get any silver or copper pieces. Below are the starting possible jobs. Possible Jobs: Jobs..................................Payment(week ly) Freelance.............................*Depends Baker.................................10-20gp Cook/Chef.............................20-30gp Town Guard............................**75-125gp Guard Captain.........................**100-200gp Farmer................................*Depends Clerk.................................80-100gp Secretary.............................100-110gp Advisor...............................200-220gp Mayor.................................300-370gp Diplomat(NEW).........................80-100gp Banker................................100gp Tax Recorder..........................100gp * You can not get a designated amount, payment varies from very high to very low ** Included with GP comes prepaid armor and items Rankings in the Military (guards) Guard-> Guard Captain-> Sergeant-> Luitenant-> Commander-> General Generals report to the head of Military (one of my advisors) Taxes- You will get taxes monthly. You also get taxes when you get paid, but the list above shows your pay with tax included, so you must not worry. Your monthly taxes will depend on several factors, including what kind of job you have, the size of your estates or estate. So if you own a gigantic castle, you can expect massive taxes. Advisors My advisors are like my cabinet, they work under a certain specialty. Advisors are chosen in many ways. I will not be so biased, but if you post atleast once a day, you have a good shot at being an advisor. Your actuall class depends on being an advisor. If your a thief, you must know monetary value so you can easily get in the race for finances. If there are several people trying to become the same advisor, we will have a vote, and to influence are vote the two (or more) canditates must put up good arguements. Below are the advisors. Military [The Grand Slayer is head of this department] Finances Magic [ Beumanoir is head of this department] Economy Foreign (diplomatic) [Arias Linvail is head of this department] Buildings: Waterdale starts out small, and these are the current buildings. Bakery (specializes in bread) Inn ( 1 story inn that only serves food and has 4 rooms to offer) Barracks (5 guards awaiting a Guard Captain to command them) Town Hall (Mansion) 5 Simple houses (all occupied) 3 Simple houses (Vacant 1 warehouse (With Construction supplies to build 2 medium sized house and a 2 story building) 1 Grand House (Vacant) Character Classification For characters, you cannot all own super B.S. guys, so I am making this quite simple. You are limited to 3 heroes, and 6 guards, and infinite common folk. But this is not what it seems. Heroes, guards, and commoners are called that based on their stats. So, if your a guard type character IT DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE A GUARD! Heroes- Heroes are characters with 2 or more stats above 16. These are generally our main guys (such as SecretMaster, and Tuain't and DeathKiller) Guards- Guards are characters with 2 or more stats ranging from 13-15. Commoners- Commoners are characters with their stats ranging from 0-12. Rules on Characters: 1. You may not have a BS character. In other words, for Heroes, you must have 3 stats below 16, guards must have 3 stats below 14 and Commoners can have all 12's if they like. 2. Make a character suit their classification. That means do not have a commoner with a +3 weapon and such, unless there is an exception or it is for a quest. 3. Do not BSatize your Heroes, they cannot have sword +6 with Armageddon which does a bijjillion damage. Races- There are a multitude of races at your disposal to pick and choose, and I let you guys have flexibility. I have assembled a collaboration of races from many games I have played. I will not give descriptions for the basic races, because I hope most of you know them. (PnP and Computer) Basics Human Elf Dwarf Half Elf Gnome Halfling/Hobbit Half Orc Specialties: If anyone want to play as subraces of elves and dwarves, be my guest. I don't know much about those. And below are the races I've added. Please fix me on any mistakes and tell me if I should keep em or not. Tyrishians- The militant Tyrishians are the only race in the planes that might be more dispicable and horrible than demons to groups of people. War is an acceptance in their race, and the army of the Tyrishians is massive. A normal Tyrishian stands about 5 1/2 feet to 6 feet. Tyrishians look like humans, but have darker skin, are more muscular, their voices are very deep (the females have high pitched voices) and they have long hair. Tyrishians are quite skilled with Arliwblades (a type of sword that is made in their colonies and cities) and Bows. A typical Tyrishian soldier uses plate mail, a Arliwblades, and a bow. Tyrishians only have a limited option of classes. Fighter, Ranger, Cleric, Barbarian, Warlord (See special classes) Kriluns- Kriluns were once a race of humans. But a diabolical mad wizard captured a whole town and performed vile experiments on them. The effect, after 3 centuries, the Kriluns have changed. They now look reletively close to Humans, except they are smaller and slender. Their blood is fused with magic, and they share a great bond with magic. Kriluns often make great mages. Kriluns have the exact features of humans except they are smaller. The Krilun have a limited option of classes. Sorcerer, Mage, Wild Mage, Psionic, Cleric. NOTEE: The Tyrishian and Kriluns are an actuall race I made up using guidlines by the D&D Player Handbook. For more info, PM me. Classes You can have all the normal classes and subclasses such as Kensai fighter and Assassin Thief. I've added in some others too. Psionic- Psionic's are well know for the mental ability. Possessing great powers, Psionics are immune to Psionic Magic such as Mind Flay, and charms. Engineer- Engineers are wanted all over the world. About 3 centuries ago, the intellectuall side of many races(excluding elves) were revealed. Art was discovered, along with engineering, arithmetic and writing. Engineers study structures and contribute whatever they can to the world. Engineers can only use slings, bows, bastard swords, crossbows, daggers, and staffs. Samurai- Much like the Kensai, only the samurai's wear there own armor, and get a bonus using dual weapons and spears. Warlord (Tyrishian only)- For the Tyrishians, a Warlord isn't a status given to a high ranking officer. It is a class that they live by. A warlord is pretty much a paladin, but only for Tyrishians. They live and fight for bloodshed, war, fighting, killing, and spreading the Tyrishian ways. [ 03-01-2003, 08:37 PM: Message edited by: SecretMaster ] |

Current People: I'm listing there names and the job they play in Waterdale.
The Grand Slayer (G.S.)-Daxunyrr, Head of Military. Legolas-Timoj, Baker. Sir Exxon-Saturos, Guard Captain. Arias De'Minal-Arias, Head of Diplomatic and Foreign Dealings. Beuamonoir-Eruna, Head of Magic Lord High Eater of Legs-Lyrah, Student Magi Ar-Cunin-Tarn, Guard. Tancred-Tancred, will be a Priest of Helm as a job. Azrael StormBlade-Tethis,? If I forgot anyone, please tell me. Buildings: Everyone must live somewhere, whether it be a house or spend money to live at an inn. Here is a list of building sizes (according to the DM guide to 3rd edition rules). The cost is customized by me. Simple House- This one-to three-room house is made of wood and has a thatched roof. Cost:500gp or 50gp a month for 10 months. Grand House- This four-to ten room grand house is made of wood and has a thatched roof. Cost:1000gp or 100gp a month for 10 months. Mansion- This ten-to twenty room mansion has two to three levels and is made of wood and brick. It has a slate roof. Cost:2500gp or 250gp a month for 10 months. Tower-This round or square, three-level tower is made of stone. 1000gp or 100gp a month for 10 months. Keep-This fortified stone building has fifteen to twenty-five rooms. 5000gp or 500 gp a month for 10 months. Castle-The castle is a keep surrounded by a 15 foot stone wall with four towers. The wall is 10-feet thick. 10000gp or 1000gp a month for 10 months. Huge Castle- A particulary large keep with numerous associated buildings (stable, granary, forge, etc.) and an elaborate 20 foot high wall creating bailey and courtyard areas. The wall has six towers and is 10 feet thick. 20000gp or 1500gp a month for 10 months. Moat with Bridge- This moat is 15 feet deep and 30 feet wide. The bridge across it may be a wooden drawbridge or a permanent stone structure. 2000gp or 200gp a month for 10 months. Specialized buildings: Specialized buildings are not listed on the previous list. These buildings are for working, such as an inn or a granary and even a blacksmith. People usually do not live in these buildings, although there are exceptions. Some of these buildings may be combined with others, such as a farmstead and a granary. This will be constantly edited and such. Tavern- A tavern is slightly different from an Inn. A tavern is fairly smaller than an inn, and does usually does not rent. It can also be called a bar a such other words. Inn-An inn is usually 2 or more stories, and supplies housing for the night and food and drink. Inns are generally large, it is about the size of a mansion. It is usually made of wood and brick. Forge/Smithy-A forge is where smiths create armor and weapons. Skilled smiths may also create war machines. The size of a forge varies, you may have a small one or a very large one. It is usually made of brick and wood. Granary/Mill-A granary is where grain is stored and transformed to make flour and such materials. To build a granary. you must know some sort of engineering so you can figure out how to use gears to grind the grains. Farmstead-Farmsteads are where farmers tend to crops and harvest their produce. Many farmsteads are also homes, but you may find exceptions. The actuall building may vary in size, along with the crops. A house with a small garden IS NOT a farmstead. Farmsteads may grow crops or animals, or both. Barracks-A barracks is where troops in the army or town guard rest while off duty. The size of a barracks is generally not different. A good barracks is made of stone with wood. I will post more when the idea comes to mind. Check here often to see if it is updated. For prices, PM me. Money:
Everyone must know the value of money. In Waterdale, 1000gp is worth a lot (after all, it buys a decent house). With 1000 gold, you can buy yourself Full Plate Armor. You will also notice that the wages are small. But really, those wages should last you through the week, with some extra to spare. Some people may join the guard temporarily, just to earn good pay, then quit to start there own lives. Food and Drink for a week will run you about 15gp. Then you must consider other expenses, such as buying that nice table you saw, or getting that horse you need. I will be PMing everyone their starting gold. The starting gold is 1d20 x 20. |

Thanx. Renting at an inn is 5 silver pieces per 2 days.
Message Board: If you are in need of work or want to post something, PM me and I'll post it on the Message Board. The Message Board will be on this thread, so look here for any info. Weekly Progress Report: You have not missed much. The first 3 pages of posts were mainly discussions between the mayor and people joining Waterdale. Later on, Dalstur was walking out when he noticed 2 caravans. They came to the city to join in, but Kobolds had followed them. We were then forced to fight an attack of kobolds, but they ran away in fear of 3 ogres. The three ogres then proceeded to attack the town. We defeated them, and we learned that they came from the Oriran plains. We do not know the motive or who led the attack, but everyone is asked to leave this issue alone. The matter will be resolved between Arias, SecretMaster, and the man leading the attack. The official week of Waterdale started Friday. From now on, every Friday is payday. |

Sorry I haven't been updating, but I finally remembered. Arias and SecretMaster were in discussion of the recent attack. Construction on the Magic Academy started, and everyone continued their life. A hooded man entered the town, Dalstur was looking all over for him. The Hooded Man was a werewolf hunter, who attempted to kill Lyrah. Lyrah changed into wolf form (luckily none saw who it was that transformed), and Dalstur, with his rage built up, pummeled that guy and ran out of the city, berserk. We have now just discovered that this man was hired to kill Lyrah. And the man who is offering a bounty is Lord Kaoen, of the Oriran plains. And apparently, there is a man in the city that is working with the assassin, we only know his name starts with a D.
I'm adding in a new profession job, I'll post it up later. |

Ingredients and Variety:
Waterdale is not just strictly for AD&D and such. We want variety, so sure you can use things from many games. For instance, your guy can have ebony armor (from morrowind), just take in mind that that is extremely costly in these parts, and a full suit of Ebony could buy you a Huge Castle. You may also use foods from all different games, and taking examples from Morrowind, you can grow a garden of Whickwheat and Kresh Fiber while still growing that delicious corn. Ever try Pickled Trynnie? Well, I hope you don't, but thats not the point. You can have food and armor from every RPG you've ever played. But here are some Restrictions for Morrowind based stuff. You can have all the ingredients. These metal types are not available. Chitin, Glass, Daedric, Dwemer, Bonemold, Orcish, Indoril. And no armor or weapons from Tribunal. |

Money for the Unemployed:
You are a struggling Freelancer, an unsuccsessful business man, or someone who just arrived and cannot find some work. Lets face it, at one point or another, one of you will be sitting around with nothing to do, no job or nothing. If you have just arrived in Waterdale, and have no job, how will you succeed? Well, if I see that you have not made any money that week, you will get 25gp a week. But after 10 weeks of receiving this free money, it will stop, and you will be forced to do some work. Now, you may want to take a loan out from the bank, but Waterdale does not have a bank yet, so that option is not available. If you want to open a business, speak to the mayor about opening up a shop and it will happen. Of course, there are other ways to make some money. Try chopping some firewood and attempt to sell it. See if anyone has a rat problem to take care of. Try growing a garden or go out and hunt, and sell the meat to the inn. If someone needs that tree taken down, do it for some small pay or free food. Cheating the system. Surely you might RP someone who is a villian or a con artist, or have someone not pay taxes. Well, that isn't such a good idea, because like any good government, I keep records. I have records down of everyone's wages, so if you seem to have an infinite amount of gold, you don't. If anyone wants to see there total gold, just PM me, and I'll see how much you have, so you don't have to do the math. And if your person makes counterfit money, it'll soon be discovered one way or another. Latest Messages from the Message Board Mrs.Briggs, the biggest supplier for the inn's food is having a problem. Something has been tearing up her garden and destroying her crops, and she wants action. He house is right behind the Inn, and is looking for anyone to help. Rats have been terrorizing the basement to the Inn. The Innkeeper says there are about 20 of them living down there, in one big nest. He'll pay 5 silvers for every rat taken care of. He doesn't care how it is done, he just wants them gone. Daes is a personal secretary of the mayor. He hasn't been seen for 2 weeks now. The mayor is offering a reward of 100 gp to whoever finds out what happened to him. Waterdale needs jobs! These are the most wanted jobs. Secretary (8 wanted) Tax Recorder (NEW JOB! 2 wanted) Clerk (3 Wanted) Banker (NEW JOB! 3 wanted) Cook/Chef (2 wanted) Advisor (Financial. 1 wanted) |
