Do you have ToB installed? What is your current amount of Exp.

And, this ought to be posted in the ToB forum for better results.

The only ways to start getting HLAs are to:
1) Get your character's EXP above 2,950,000*.
2) Have ToB installed.

* For Multi-classes, you start earning HLA's when your total EXP exceeds the SoA cap. For Dual-classes, it's more complicated: Your first class can earn HLA's as soon as it passes the EXP cap, but your second class has to exceed the cap too, before it starts getting its own HLAs.

I did not know that, that's a bummer. I guess there are still plusses to dual classing but it seems like multi-classes are mucho superior with the HLA factor. The only things I can think of that way in favor of dual are:

1. the original kit's abilities if you take one
2. Grandmastery over specialization

But that is pretty lame when it comes to a multi's Assassination and GWW for instance.

Is it safe to assume that the latter would be unlikely to happen (unless you dualled after exceeding the cap)?

Dual-classing is still a very valid option. For example, you could make a Human Druid (or kit thereof), Dualed to Fighter. If you took the Druid half to Level 18, you would get 4 Druid HLAs (most of them being Quest-level spells) and a base casting power of 8/8/8/8/6/6/6 spells per day. That would require 3,450,000 EXP. That leaves you another 4,550,000 EXP with which to reach Fighter Level 26, which means that you get 7 Fighter HLAs to choose from.

A Multiclassed Fighter/Druid, by comparison, would reach Levels 24/21, thus giving them a base casting power of 9/9/9/9/8/6/6 spells per day, and a total of 19 HLAs, each of which could come from either the Fighter or Druid pool.

Power-wise, which is better? Obviously the Multiclass, as it allows more HLAs, greater flexibility in choosing those HLAs, and (in this example, anyway) greater spellcasting power, no loss of THAC0, and no loss of proficiency points. (A Level 26 Fighter has no more weapon stars than a Level 24 Fighter.) The only benefits to Dualing here are, as SpongeBob noted, Grandmastery and the ability to choose a kit. But then again, power isn't everything. (For some of us, anyway.)

[/QUOTE]If you got 3.1 Million XP after your last level up,then make 1 more level and wait. For example, say that at your last level up in Archer, you have 2.9 million xp. Now, although you have over 3 million xp, you will have to wait till you level up till you get an option to chose an HLA.
