Has anyone got any ideas for concepts they would like to have seen in the game, but weren't. It doesn't matter if they are not technically feasable or anything, I'm just interested.
I would like to see a system for weapon development. Something along the lines of being able to add a new power to the weapon for every million experience points you use it to acheive. You would have to start off with at least a +1 weapon, and not a named one (not the Flail of Ages for example), and every million XP you add a power. These could range from an 'extra +' on the weapon (+1 to +2 for example), to spells or effects, getting more powerful at higher levels. For example the choices could look something like this; First bonus (1,000,000); Cure minor wounds, magic missile (1/day), blindness (1/day), blur or mirror image (1/day), etc Second Bonus; (2,000,000); Blindness on touch, heal one hitpoint on touch, cure light wounds on self on Critical hit. Flame arrow once per day. etc Right up 7 or 8 mill. where you can choose a race to make a save versus death or die, or give it a status, eg. Vorpal, or -of Disruption. Also killing powerful bosses allows you name the weapon, a name of your choice, or, say, from a list depending on what you've killed. Dragon Bane; Firkraag Scourge of the Abyss; Demi-gorgon Blade of Suldanessellar; Irenicus (or maybe the black dragon) Light of the Underdark; Matron Mother Ardulace And so on. This will encourage people to hold on to weapons, and not dump them when something more powerful comes along, which doesn't make too much sense from a roleplaying point of view (fighter learns the balance of his sword, and becomes so proficient with it combat becomes like a dance etc, etc) Anyone else have any ideas?

that does sound cool, I would have liked to see a better variety of weapons so you could be profient in anything and still capable. I'm trying to remedy this by taking up item modding but so far have not been a very capable modder. Its really hard. if you want to see the stats on my first attempt look for the make your own item page, it's on the 2nd page of the thread i think. I want to eventally add, some spears, a few daggers, a few axes, maybe a coulple of halbreds and add some serious power to the bastard swords.

This sounds cool but then again if you were to stick to the same weapon trough the whole game, that would destroy some of the treasure/reward aspect of the game. Maybe you could compensate this by adding minor items that you can take to an NPC and upgrade your weapon. Lets say you have a sword and you found a holy relic or something and you can then uppgrade your sword and get a permanent bless or something...if you get the picture...
Or lets say you could cut of firkraags throat and add it to your sword which will now deal an extra 6 points of fire damage...

That is inspired by Diablo2, isn't it?
It would be hard to achieve, because every item is represented by an item file. Such a branching would mean that a great number of those files would have to be made. And many of those would be rarely or never used.

You don't have to worry about item branching however, because all this thread is about is ideas. Like I said, it might well be technically unfeasible or impossible, it just has to be an idea that might have improved and added to the game. I mean, another idea might be that each spell has it's own incantation and spefic arm movements, and you (the player) must memorize and perform them all to cast a spell, but that's not really what most people (including myself) want to see in a game. However, if it, or anything would improve the experience for you, post it!

One thing I've wanted to happen in a LONG time is that cloaks become visible on the character! I think it would look cool if you're character could have a billowing cloak. Is there a reason why they don't show up?
