I have just finished reading a Game of Thrones and thought it was one of the best fantasy books that i have ever read. Could any one tell me how many books are supposed to be in the series? As I understand it, only the first three are out so far and George is working on the 4th.

Thanks in advance.

There is a lot of George R.R. Martin fans around here.

Every once in a while I go take a look at his website.

He released a preview chapter of the next book Feast for Crows by the way.

How many books are there supposed to be in the series though? He does not appear to be a young man and I would hate for him to pass away before he is finished! (Based on the time it takes to churn out each book)

The exact number of books isn't know, I believe. You will find that there is a LOT contained in each book. However, one of the main plot points is just now kicking up.

See my sig for my sentiments on Feast for Crows.

This isn't Dungeon and Dragons novels. Once you read Martin, D&D will bore you to death.

He's got his own world, it's based in a time zone similar to our middle age, it's very realistic and for lack of a better word, dark. He's not effraid to kill off main characters and piss off his readers, so you never know what to expect, but he know how to hook you in. The suspense is awesome. At one point I had to restrain myself from not throwing the book on the wall. His characters are all very realistic, it's not just your typical paladin trying to kill random necromancer #4. All sides have their reasons and goals. I can't decide wich character I love and which one I hate yet, but I do have some favorites.

His name is George R.R. Martin, the series in question is A Song of Ice and Fire, if you want to look him up.
