Ok, disregard the entire previous post. With the exception of the Thanks.
It would seem that single change was not the golden fix. Powered up the console from a full shutdown after 10 minutes....

Resetting the console helped for the first week of issues, then it ceased to remedy the situation.
That's the most perplexing thing about this issue. Initially, everything worked without problems....

Well, as I said, it's Xbox ONE, so keyboard and mouse are not an issue. I'll have to look into either the Wi-Fi booster, or finding a way to move the router close enough that a cable is feasible....

Ok, figured it out, I think. in the BIOS for the MSI motherboard there's a section marked (obviously) wake up settings, or something like that. Under that tab, everything is defaulted to disabled....

Monitor got fried during a power outage...
My old monitor, had it for 10 years, died yesterday after a power outage in my neighborhood. Was working just fine, then the power went out. When they fixed the problem, my monitor wouldn't power up....
