How do I kill this Pit Fiend monster.
No weapons or spells seem to have effect.
Am I supposed to heal him?

I think you need +3 weapons or better to hit him.

I'm usually able to drop him pretty fast. However, it helps to REALLY buff your characters up, and try to lower his resistances and saving throws (Lower Magic Resistance and Greater Malison help a lot here). He likes to stun/paralyze characters, so "Free Action" spells or potions before hand can help a lot.

Cheers,

OK thanks.
I assume the spell Lower Resistances will help a little?

I... ah.... couldn't kill him.

Me and Minsc were the only people who could hurt it. And, we both died. I turned into the slayer, and I beat him! But I was CG, so I decided to change.

Then the 13th (Exactly! I counted!) time round, Imoen cast Chromatic Orb and on the offchance, dispite the bonus to save, Balor died from the Chromatic Orbs special effects!

Luck, or what?

That was luck. Of course, Chromatic Orb is one nice little jewel of a 1st-level spell. That and Magic Missile have saved the day for me more than once, even on high-level monsters. Very few are immune to their effects.

People really underestimate Spook.
At level 12, it has a -6 penalty to the save (which is 12 points better than Chromatic Orb!!), and the Fear effects will break the enemy's script.

Why is that good?
Because all spells and spell-like abilites are scripted!

A frightened Dragon won't use his Breath Attack / Wing Buffets...
A frightened Beholder won't use his leathel rays...
A frightened Wizard won't use his spells AT ALL...

Spook rocks.

x2 Spooks in a Minor Sequencer rocks harder, though...

I prefer Haste and Strength of One... beat `em down Hard and Fast
(If i`ve got less than 4 people in my party, I consider Improved Haste; but too many people in the party, and it just takes too long to do it to even just tanks...)
