Burn victim transferred to Halifax

The man severely burned in a motel fire in Moncton, N.B., on Thursday morning has been transferred to a hospital in Halifax. The 38-year-old victim was rescued from the fire at the Jones Lake Motel on Main Street by two other people staying in the 12-room motel. Police are not identifying the man, who is from Middleton, N.S. The fire has been ruled as being accidental, RCMP said. It started in Room 10, which is where the victim was staying, on the second floor of the building. Eighteen people were staying at the motel, which also serves as a rooming house. Thirteen of the people are currently receiving assistance from the Red Cross, which is providing food and shelter for three days. The rooming house residents will then be referred to other social agencies if they still need help, police said.

Further to this: They just said on CBC radio that the man was smoking in bed, which is how the fire started. How can smoking in bed and starting a fire be an accident??
