Ever hear of a Magic Jack usb phone device?
Apparently you plug any household phone into the MJ, then plug that into a usb port, and you can make local/long distance calls if you have a broadband connection. They charge $20 a year. Only thing stopping me right now is you can't port your existing home phone number (yet!), right now you're issued a new phone number. If you have to travel, just unplug it & take it with you. If your computer's turned off incoming calls roll to voicemail.
Read all about it... Anybody using one or know someone who is? It'd be nice to get a recommendation from a real user and not just one off their website. EDIT: right now only available to call US and Canada...
