Anybody here know how to swap characters in EotB? The manual sez to click on the nameplates of the involved characters, but it doesn't work. TIA

Do you mean to change the order of your characters? From memory it's right click to select the character then another right click to place him/her where you wish to change them to.

Yes!! that's it! I didn't think r-click worked in the DOS environment!

EOB is probably one of my all time faves.. I beat it like 200000 times too!! It was also my FIRST IBM PC based PC game.. (Had a commie 64 before that).

The Spiders and Drow are scary.. (BTW, I use the exact same teleporters in my mod, Escape from Undermountain) Since Water deeps Sewers are considered part of Undermountain, I wanted to include them, and as a homage to EOB.

It's a great game, definitely. I'm having major flashbacks to my 486 days playing it at the moment, with Dungeon Master on the Amiga, to which it shares many similarities. In fact, you could argue that EotB is an evolution of that 3D FP tile based 4 player party type of RPG.

The second EotB is a masterpiece actually and something I truly enjoyed finally beating. I have terrifying memories of fleeing from some of the monsters in that game!
There's some great riddles too, IIRC.

I never did finish EotB III however, which was always a huge disappointment for me. It just didn't quite have the same magical sense of wonder and exploration about it that the first two did.

Then of course the would-be EotB IV engine was made into Lands of Lore which was also brilliant. And rest as they say is history. Sadly, there are very few - if any games made with this particular style of gameplay anymore.

What kind of party have you gone for, Elfbane?

Yeah, SSI did EOB 3, and it showed. Westwood kicked ass, and EOB 1 and 2 rocked. I remember the Frost Giant crawling down the hallway to you--scared the hell outta me! And Dran at the end was cool.

IMO, Lands of Lore 1 was the 'real' EOB3... It added some great inovations too! (A map for one) and other cool things.
Then there was Ultima Underworld.... oh man.. another top 5 fave! BOTH were!

(I sold my C-64 and 128, but kept all my disks--Gold box games, Loderunner, tons of.. copied games, Karateka (which is being redone!), Bruce Lee, Goonies and Trolls and Tribulations.. Conan...
So fun.. I have the C64 Emulator, so I played through a few a while back. Great stuff!!

I created fighter, fighter-thief, cleric, and mage. I have no idea how the game "leans",,,,,, will a 1/2 thief be enough thief? Is a cleric needed? I'll just play it out and see what happens!

BTW, I really like this version of DosBox. I had played around with it in the past, but the older versions seemed to always have sound issues with the games I wanted to play.
