Balthus in Bridge District (spoiler)

Who is this guy? I played thru the first time and AFAIK did not encounter him. What story does he tie into? (Yeah, spoil me.)

Never heard of him...or at least I don't remember meeting him. I'm curious myself.

I have never found much information about this person or his home.
I’ve searched through all the walkthroughs I have and can find no reference to this manor or that person.
Trying to talk to Lord Balthus only makes his guards go hostile. you can kill his guards with no problems but if you kill Balthus your reputation drops like a hot potato
It might be there for local color.

Isn't he the guy that Amonen is not to kill for what he did to his sister?
If he does, he can not become a knight.

No, that's Saerk Fahrrad who lives in the big opulent square building right on the middle of the Bridge District.

Balthis lives in a much less assuming mansion in the east end of the bridge. He acts as the top administrator of Athkatla when the Counsil of Six is not session, so he is a kind of mayor with limited competences. He probably handles day-to-day administration while the Council scheme about how to fill their coffers.

Weirdly enough this guy doesn't play any role in the story. He was probably part of one of those many quests that Bioware never got around to implement.

There is no real point in killing him. He hasn't got any notable loot in his home or on himself.

And, to be clear, my reputation dropped when I killed him, when I killed his first guard, and when I killed his second guard. I got fed up and reloaded by then. The only one who seemed happy was Viconia - who made the most enthusiastic sounds.

Being evil, I was tempted to keep clamoring along, even at the thought of losing Mazzy, Valygar, and Nalia from my party. But, as I'm *neutral* evil (i.e. out for myself) I see it as very unwise to *appear* evil (things cost more, people go hostile, etc.).
