Mass Effect - only a few weeks ago?

I hear Mass Effect will be out on the market by the end of november. This is the only game I've ever considered buying a console for. Just look at the ingame footage ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLOJ-hE527Q ), this game looks massive and seems to have great replay value. Do we know anything about the estimated time it will take us to finish it?

Edit: a bit of a typo in the topic title, it was supposed to be 'only a few more weeks to go'. Sorry, I was in a hurry.

Yep. It's gone gold, with a release date of November 20th. I'm eagerly awaiting that day.


Estimated time? Well, Mass Effect is the first in a trilogy, so who knows how long it will take to finish the story, but as to this game... well, suffice to say, it's not another 10 hour mainstream game. I'd go sofar as to say it'll be longer and larger than Oblivion, to be sure. With content to fill up those empty spaces.

I actually bought a 360 just for this game. Beside playing it a couple of times when i first got it it's sitting here in it's box next to my desk, waiting for the game.

I'm happy to know they've gone gold. i'll have to go place a preorder at ebgames sometimes this week.

Holy crap - I've intentionally ignored this game since I only have a pc, but having watched that video I may have to get a 360. Darnit.

I've read that the main storyline should take about 20 hours and the side-quests an additional 30/40. Also, you might want to take a look at this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ss5y4h8m9dE
It shows a bit more about the dialogue-system, which looks to be very fascinating.

I would suspect that the 60 or so hours it would take to do the complete game would highly depend on the difficulty level. This isn't your neighbor's "Monsters get tougher, but that's about it" Oblivion run. Higher difficulties means strategy. And strategy is always a great time
