I got a ticket at this intersection for disobeying a sign forbidding left turns during the day.

Ironically, I actually checked for signs forbidding the turn.

Can you find the sign?

What do you think. Should I fight it? Can I fight city hall?

AS a matter of principle you should always fight driving tickets. Although in this case, you might even have a chance of winning - i definately couldnt see any sign!

My guess would be that the sign is on the pole to your right, and not in either of the pictures.

*edit* You can see the back of what looks like it might be such a sign on the other side of the street, on the pole on the left.

If you want to have a chance of winning, take pictures of the entire intersection that show where the sign is, if it's there. If it's not, be sure to show where it was supposed to be.

There is no sign, nor is there any spoon.

There actually was a sign, above the closest red light, and thus, practically above the car, and not visible at all.

I watched the intersection for a while after, for there was a copper waiting in ambush. A number of other people all fell into the trap.

Oh yes fight it. I fought one a few years back and won. The sign was obscured by a tree and when the cop pointed to it I still couldn't see it until I got out and pulled half the tree away. I took pictures on my phone with the cop right there and as I did he looked like he looked like he was reconsidering but he didn't. He settled instead for just making a fast exit so I went down to city hall, filled out the form told the girl I was pissed and that the city needs to start maintainting their signs more. Eventually I won the whole thing.

Take pictures. Fight it. You may be surprised.

But don't do something silly like take a vacation day to fight it -- not worth it.

Nice Columbus Day pics, too.

If the cop doesn't show up, you win automatically.

That is your punishment for driveing in NYC. Why not try the lovely and ultra safe subway system or maybe an even more lovely taxi.

I'd fight it if I were you. I fought a ticket for driving through on a "left turn only" lane on a small road because the paint on the road was illegible and nobody could see the arrow sign on the asphalt.
