Google sponsors a new way to locate criminals that live near you, using data from sources like the national sex crime registry. It maps out your area, and color codes the criminals and where they live, and what they did. They appear as color-coded dots, yellow for this, red for that, and the distance to your house. Clicking on a dot pulls up a decription along with photo ID.

There are 7 offenders living within one mile of my house, two of which are rapists, five are child molestors. I think I'll use this mapping system when I go to buy a new home...

i really have a mixed feelings on this one. First off, its good to know who your neighbors are and second its also bad to know that you know who your neighbors are.

Its pretty rough out there for people who have made mistakes and wish to live thier lives as a reformed citizen, but the minute something happens, and people know about thier past, then they would automatically be hunted for witch hunt.

then again, I personally wouldnt want my own family to live in a place full of criminals AND sometimes it is true alot of offenders would often be repeaters.

::shrug:: Always seemed to me like rapists and child molesters should be getting locked up for life. If they get out, is it really that bad that they get witch hunted?

Why don't you go chase them with pitchforks and throw them on a burning stake?

You're also relying on the accuracy of the database... both with respect to addresses and the nature of the crimes. An 18-year-old with a 15-year-old girlfriend is not in the same league as a 35-year-old with a 15-year-old...

That being said, my neighborhood looks pretty clean

No need to chase them, their address has been provided to make it easy!
