A lot of music threads are going in that forum and it seems like the most appropriate forum to discuss music since the forum is basically about new and old elements commonly experienced in life. I am certain that adding music to that forum has probably crossed many of your minds.

Personally, I don't mind - I just think it would cause less confusion as to whether it should go in the General Discussion or Books Movies & TV forum.

Just renamed it to "non-games related entertainment forum" and that should covers all posts of such nature. Otherwise, Z would have to name it "book, movies, music, sports and misc. forum", which by the way, doesn't sound cool.

No no no no no...soon there won't be anything left to talk about in GD! We're already banned from religious debate and there are enough smartasses barking "ra ra ra this should be in current events forum ra ra ra" we don't need more smartasses going "ra ra ra this should be in the music etc. forum". I remember when everything used to be in GD - those were the days!

On the other hand, would you rather wish to associate our Enlightened Discussions on Music with the trigger-spammy, futile emptiness and impressive unfunniness of the average GC-topic, or with potentially much more interesting debates on literature and movies?
Just compare our attempts to save the worthwhile discussion topics from GC as rats leaving a sinking ship. Join us! We all float down here...

..Seriously though, I don't really care either way.

yeah, I agree with paladin2000, it should be in the Books, Movies & TV Forum but it needed a new forum name then.

Hey, sure, why not? GD can be for 'miscellaneous' chat, the 'art' forum can be for 'art'.

The reason why we have different forums is b3cause each type of posts get different response rate, generally speaking, topics that fits in GDC gets more responses in a shorter time compared to the other topics in other forums, for example Book, TV and movies.

Therefore if Z would squeez all other posts in GDC, you won't be surprise that you topic(s) about TV or movies might be pushed back to page 2 or 3 in a matter of days. As such, there would more posts about the same topic by different person regularly, which would be a real mess to read and to reply. From my experience, most people would only post topics of the same subject when the older thread has been pushed away from page 1.

Therefore, by keeping posts longer in page 1, we would have less topics that are basically talking about the same thing in the other pages.
