Just heard this on a radio report. Some Dilbert in St Paul Minihaha asked that a display of the easter bunny and some pastel colored eggs be removed from the city hall. It might offend some of the non Christan's. For JC's sake! the easter bunny is non sectarian and shouldn't offend anyone. And dick bird what about the name of your town THAT could be offensive to non Christan's. I love government stupidity on parade.

Now, I'm not sure, but I do believe that the Easter Bunny actually has Pagan roots. I'm not to clear on that, the only other story I have for that myth was Paul Mencia (?), who said, "Where did the Easter Bunny come from anyway? Did somebody say, 'hey, Christ just rose from the grave, hide the eggs.'". Now, I'm really wanting to lean towards that last one.

Edit: It would seem I'm smarter than I thought.

Almost all Christian celebrations are at least some part inspired by pagan culture. The Christmas tree was originally from Scandinavia, and indeed, one of the early reasons for creating saints was to have them be easier replacements for pagan gods. Christianity's ability to absorb regional folk myths into its own religion is part of the reason it saw such a massive, non-violent expansion.

As for this situation...don't people have something they should be doing instead of worrying that someone might be offended at a fake rabbit? Shouldn't we be more worried about making sure our children learn facts, like how bunnies really have nothing to do with (solid) eggs.

Bunch of rubbish. Seriously. I'm looking forward to leaving for uni, but when people do things like this, it makes me want to stay in nice sensible Malaysia.

Being born and raised Roman Catholic...

I have never heard of something so STUPID in my life about Easter before this. Who CARES?!? Doesn't that person have something better to do than to worry about fake rabbits and plastic eggs? Maybe he could volunteer at a youth help centre or something PRODUCTIVE instead of guttersniping a perfectly innocent display.

Hasn't he ever heard of Trix, Bugs Bunny, or the original Brer Rabbit? Is he going to go after those as well, citing other offensive rabbit ridiculousness? Utter foolishness.
