Been a while since I've seen a music thread in GD...so I figure I may as well share my current obsession...lord knows it doesn't match the previous ones (Metallica, Green Day, Bob Dylan, Apocalyptica, Beethoven, etc.)

I rediscovered a band that I liked a few years ago... They Might Be Giants.

To those of you who've heard their stuff, what do you think? Can you figure out any of their songs?

Those who haven't...well...erm...they seem...Very random. Yes, that is how I wish to describe them.

Ok, this makes no sense. How can a Metallica fan (rock on) be a fan of Green Day (boooo) at the same time?

how does that make no sense? i am a metallica fan. and a green day fan as well.. just because someone likes one genre doesn't mean that all other genres have to ignored..

It's true - I'm more likely to listen to Scandinavian black metal than TMBG, but Birdhouse in Your Soul is an awesome song

I also like Older, Istanbul, and Robot Parade to name a few.

What does TMBG classify as anyway? Nerdcore?

Nerdcore indeed! Windows Media Player simplifies them to "Rock," but that's a bit of a stretch with all that accordion in there

I bought their "A User's Guide to TMBG" album and intend to buy another one whenever I FIND them...low demand hereabouts.

I really want (but don't have) "Shoehorn with Teeth."

Oh, and who the heck is "Blue Canary?" I have a vague idea that it's a blue, canary-shaped night-light, but I'm really not sure on my lyrical interpretations with these guys!
