PCI-E has been the up and comming for a few months now.
You can already get MB's to support the cards, probably need an extra lead from the PSU.. Cooling could be done with a single fan and heat sink, though some might choose to add an extra fan and run at higher internal clock speeds.

PCI-E is taking over AGP, but there are still plenty of good AGP boards around.
They will suck up a fair bit, but nothing a decent PSU can't handle. You won't need any more fans. Well, you'l need a decent processor to take full advantage, but other than that you should be about sorted. Mobos will easy handle the card. Best to wait a while though, until the prices drop.
