Reading an article on the "Death Care Industry" today.
Not that I intend to die soon lol but the various ways in which we can or can not preserve our bodies or ashes just astounded me.

Angels Flight will launch your cremains up in a display of fireworks!
http://www.angels-flight.net

How about cryonic suspension?
http://www.cryonics.org

Interested in environmentally friendly coffins?
http://www.ecopod.co.uk (links up to front page only on this mahine -?- )

How about having your cremains preserved in an Eternal Reef?
http://www.eternalreefs.com/
Eternal Reefs even provides military funeral honors for cremated veterans.
The picture of a soldier saluting a flag-draped chunk of cement/ash seems a little twisted though lol. (from the article I read - don't know if it's on the site).

Interested in being a diamond?
http://www.lifegem.com/

How about just simple burials and ash scattering "the natural way"?
http://www.memorialecosystems.com/

I like the idea of biodegradable coffins with no embalming personally.
I don't like the idea of being cremated though. Sounds too much like hell.

EDIT: Oh yeah, The Hearse Song!

Don't ever laugh as the hearse goes by,
For you may be the next to die.
They wrap you up in a big white sheet
From your head down to your feet.
They put you in a big black box
And cover you up with dirt and rocks.
All goes well for about a week,
Then your coffin begins to leak.
The worms crawl in, the worms crawl out,
The worms play pinochle on your snout.
They eat your eyes, they eat your nose,
They eat the jelly between your toes.
A big green worm with rolling eyes
Crawls in your stomach and out your eyes.
Your stomach turns a slimy green,
And pus pours out like whipping cream.
You spread it on a slice of bread,
And that's what you eat when you are dead.

I takes a lot longer than a week for a casket to be breached.
And I feel that no embalming would be gross. That's just my opinion, though. Interesting stuff, Violet.

I'd like to be turned into a jewel. That way I can gross my family outby telling them as a final request to wear it as a neckalace. They'd have to go aroundtelling people their wearing their own kid!

Cyronics doesn't sound too bad actually. I reckon I may look further into that in the future.

Dron_Cah,
According to longer versions of the song the guys tossing in the dirt and rocks didn't care if they busted the coffin.
I think embalming is gross lol so we'll have to agree to disagree there.
Do you want a "normal" burial; embalmed body, sealed casket, etc. ?

johnny,
I think you've found your money maker!
johhny's kegskets, the naturale way to be buried!

armageddon272,
I can see your mom - "this is my engagement ring, this is my wedding band, this is my mother's ring and this *sniff* is my son, armageddon272!"
She might like it!

Sigmar,
LOL Will you be on a shelf or in a cupboard?

Jaradu,
If I had a lot more faith in mankind, I'd consider cryogenics too. The idea of being able to come back to a healthy population is enticing but I don't see how the planet can ever survive with mankind existing on its shell. I'm not into any enclosed life-support systems like space-ships either lol.

LOL Johnny. Why a keg? How about a giant bottle of beer that you float in, preserved?

I always thought the cryogenics thing was a bit ridiculous, mainly the people who just want to preserve their heads LOL. I mean, even if someday it were possible, which I doubt, would you really want to "wake up" as a head on a table? I mean they could do anything with you, you'd have no defenses. You could end up a conversation piece on a bar, people could play catch with you, even dodge ball (or dodge head I guess it'd be). I mean just picture it!

If I'm lucky I'll end up as a paperweight.

Violet, just saying. I don't think my mom would refer to me by my user-name. I don't even think she'd notice. She'd refer to me as "Misha"
