Oh, I almost forgot, I'm new here so I'll introduce myself.
My name is Martin, I'm 23 and I'm studying for 4 more years to become a teacher in history and social science.

Vellin Dahn. It's not the name of the tanner, but the name of the guy who rescues the tanner from the basement of his house.

Well...it didn't work...I bought the book: history of the zhentarim and when he asked about the name I said Vellin Dahn, but he still didnt think I was the right person
Should I bring with me the note itself or what is wrong??

The guy's original name is Vellin Dahn, but you need to follow the instructions on the note to rearrange the letters of his name to come up with the "code name", which I wasn't sure if you wanted.

Once you rearrange his name, you come up with the code name "Darcin Cole".

you can always just trty trrial and error, trying every name until you get the right one, and reload if you get the wrong one. (memnoch gave you the guyys name you still have to run it through the code on the scroll to find the code-name the guy wants)

Duh...hehe I thought you gave me the de-codified name and at the moment I was too lazy to try figuring it out =)
Anyways...now it'll work I'm sure and thank you all for the help!

That riddle is a nightmare for any man who's native language isnt english or American. The only riddle i ever got is the riddle you get in the final lvl of Watcher's keep by a flying smart-ass.

Even the genie in the circus-tent had me baffeled with much too long sentences
And then some funny character gets the idea of actually writing a whole page of riddle in the tanner's quest.
