I've been splitting wood recently, and its pretty fun. Hitting things with an axe is great for relieving exam stress, and works out the upper body. Also, it splits wood. I can't reccomend it highly enough, and encourage you to do so as well. Unless your blind, or have bad debth perception lol.

I got done with all my wood splitting last year. It was fun to split it, but moving the wood... Ugh...

QUIET, WENCH!!!
I've been splitting wood off and on for probably six years now (most of the part of my life I have been able to do so). Of course, I do enjoy it for some reason, so I guess you have a point...I just have to say that I absolutely despise whacking the same knotty piece of locust over and over again until it gives up, or you have to give in and go get the sledge and wedge....

It's amazing the focus you can get when you're wielding a weapon capable of removing your foot if you're not paying enough attention... I used to get similar focus from using nunchucks. Those pieces of wood or aircraft aluminum (in one case) whirring about my head and body really kept me focused on what I was doing.
'Course, I didn't have anything for the fire when I was done ![]()

I've done my share of splitting wood too, especially in the army... I found it sort of relaxing to just let out the anger on one piece of wood. So most people wondered what the hell I was doing, when we already had enough wood for atleast a couple of nights.

You also don't get the proper wood-splitting experience if the axe is younger than you are.
Gosh, the axes I have to split wood with typically look like they're about 70 years old...and they probably are! I think that my grandfather bought them new when he was a young adult...meaning he probably bought them in the thirties or forties...
