Arson after a Movie

"CORDELE, GA (AP)- A disaster movie and a night of heavy drinking lead a south Georgia man to set his house on fire, the man told police.

Charles Alton Adams, 32, walked into the Crisp County Law Enforcement Center shortly after midnight Thursday and told deputies he had burned his mobile home down.

He said that after watching 'The Day After Tomorrow,' about a new ice age brought on by global warming, he drank nine or 10 beers and decided to set fire to the pillows on his bed.

'I have asked that question myself,' said Crisp County Sheriff Donnie Haralson. 'The whole thing just doesn't really make sense.'

The movie, which came out on video this week, is a special-effects extravaganza that shows deadly natural disasters supposedly caused by global warming.

Haralson said Adams has been charged with arson. He remained in the county jail Friday morning as family members attempted to raise money for his bond.

Haralson said the doublewide home was gutted by the fire.

indeed, almost as bad as teenagers in college grabbing girls, raping them, then trying to pass it off as schoolwork. that was a story a year or so back.

As if global warming needed the bad press. The results of global warming are real and will be experienced, but on a long-term basis. For instance, the North American "agriculture belt" will move northward, affecting business and making Canada more of a breadbasket. However, business moves fast, nature does not. As the warmer climate moves north, many forests, like the Boreal Forests, will have to shift north, but a forest moves only 2 miles every 10-50 years, meaning some forests will simply be lost. A movie depicting immediate disaster and chicken little doom and gloom and the like only hurts the cause.

BTW, I agree that you do gotta love Iron Maiden. Personally, I'm a Keeper of one of the Seven Keys.

Hey T. L. - are you sure you aren't getting your Helloween mixed up with your Iron Maiden?

As implausible and idiotic as that movie was, there was still something refreshing about seeing Tornadoes in L.A.

I've heard cases where rapist watch some 3 star film first before raping their victim. kinda sick if you ask me.

I only burnt my old books!

Although I didn't think the movie was very good, it did stir something in me. If you really put yourself in that situation, I can sort of see what he did there and why.
